I've been feeling like I don't want to get out of bed these last few days. I feel so stressed because of school and work. I have to start an Internship along with my school work and my job. I found a way to calm myself down so I was going to share it with everyone. When I get up in the morning, I sit up and take a deep breath. I name five things I see around me, four things I can touch, three things I can hear, two things I can smell, and one thing I can taste (which is normally my morning breathe lol). I hope this helps some people like it has been helping me!

I do this as a diversion technique whenever a bad memory from my past tries to pop up. It always works in bringing me back into the present moment.

I was taught that in an IOP program a few weeks ago. I was also taught one where you breathe in, hold it for 3 seconds, then breathe out for 3 seconds. It’s been incredibly helpful from everything to my anxiety and helping me fall asleep.
