Thank you for asking, liz. It went well. Had to have achilles tendon reconstructed. I have high hopes of being able to get back to normal walking by 6 months. Now, just exhausted - can't seem to stay awake

Good news that it went well. I believe exhaustion is not unusual. Your body had a major shock. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Glad to hear the good news, and I hope your recovery will go well, too. Just enjoy the sleep. It will help you heal.

(I had a knee replacement in January, so I know a bit about leg surgery.)

Sleep for now. Dont underestimate the effects that surgery can have on our bodies and emotions. Be kind to yourself now.

Thank you, liz, Trav, and possum! I didn't see this thread until right now. Thanks for reminding me that it's good to rest/sleep. I will do housework until I'm exhausted, feeling like I'm not doing enough. And now is not the time to have that attitude!

Take baby steps hon. I'm better at saying this than doing it, but focus on what you got done, not what's left to do.

I am so appreciative

I have my post-op appointment on Monday...I assume the surgeon will by removing my cast and switching to a walking boot. I hope so; the cast rubs against the stitches and it isn't comfortable. Plus, I'm curious to see the incision

I'm asking for prayers and good vibes. I'll be okay, I'm just having a rough time. Today I went from a surgical dressing to a real cast (it's black, was going to go with neon green, but a bit bright, haha).

Have to walk no weight bearing on my right foot.
Incision looks good & I have little sort-of plastic thingies holding my achilles tendon to my something bone (kinda cool!). But crutch walking with no weight bearing is so difficult, gotta do it, though. Made the mistake of going to the grocery store with husband...ugh, no...I won't be leaving my apartment for at least 3 weeks. Scared of falling, etc. Anyway...thanks

You got 'em hon.

So you went for the formal look with a black cast. Kewl! You'll get used to the crutches. They are a pain though.

This thread is now 9 months old! Time does fly. I'll just update by letting each of you who were so encouraging to me on this thread know that I have healed wonderfully well! Zero pain when I walk - it's hard to believe that I was once in so much pain, it had gotten to the point at which it was nearly impossible to walk around my little apartment. The scar has healed nicely, too. All good. I have 1 remaining post-op appointment - I just want to thank my surgeon! Thanks to each of you for your prayers, good vibes, and friendship. It went a long way toward my healing.
