HRH The Duke Of Edinburgh, Prince Phillip has died aged 99 on Friday 9th April 2021. Its all over the news and social media. Not going to lie I cried a bit. The Palace has issued a statement and the notice is outside Buckingham Palace to notify the public of his passing.

Any death is sad, but I feel really sad despite not knowing him. Weird huh.

I liked what a news station did here... they put up pictures of Prince Phillip through the years. It was lovely to see.

Yes, it is indeed sad. I'm not surprised though. In his last photos (the one when he was out from the hospital), he was very weak and seemed deranged. But, I was still hoping he could hit the 100th age.

RIP Prince Phillip

May the Prince rest in peace.

My heart goes out to HRH. She's one strong, capable woman, but the loss of her husband, who has been with her for over 70 years, must be extremely painful for her.

He lived long and such an interesting life. He almost made it to a 100

My family in UK said that due to covid it will be a small funeral. I imagine otherwise it would be a big big event.

99 years, wow. May his soul rest in peace. 🙏

I think the Queen will cope with the void her life long partner's passing has left. I think she still has a few good years in her, yet. She's only 94.🙏

I also shed a few tears.

Not totally unexpected when he looked so frail when leaving hospital. UK media has mentioned a liver/pancreas problem, but maybe we'll never know.

What an amazing man! In addition to his love of the sea, he was a keen aviator. Gained RAF wings and private pilot licence (PPL); stopped flying in 1997. Also took controls of Concorde and Boeing 757 on test flights.

Some people disliked him because he was a straight talker. One person paying tribute said that you always knew where he was in a room because of the laughter. Someone else commented that if you sat next to him at a dinner, you ate very little!

Not being disrespectful but a good looking man too. Prince Harry also made that comment a few years ago.

Funeral is 17 April. A public silence will be respected at 1500 hours, before the private funeral service at Windsor.

RIP

RIP Prince Phillip. Many documentaries are being shown here in Australia. His life has been an amazing one. The Queen is back onto her royal duties. I dont know how she does it.

My husband and I watched Prince Philip's funeral service today, live. I shed a tear, too. For me, what was sad was not just how covid affected the service (few attendees), but the image of the queen sitting basically alone, so socially distanced even from her family. I felt her loss a little.

From what I've read, Prince Philip was crucial as the family patriarch. Someone many knew little about, but his family leaned on, greatly, and perhaps a little more "normal" in his presence. I couldn't help but think the era of Queen Elizabeth II ended today with her husband's passing. Every time they showed her, her face was down. Honestly, I think she might consider passing the baton already. I don't mean pass away, just release herself from such a responsibility. She has no one major left to lean on. It might be nice for her to be more of a support to her family than ever before. I think they now need a maternal matriarch more than a queen.
