Some time ago I stopped calling what I do outside "yardwork" I enjoy it too much for it to be work, hence yard play.

I love grubbing in the dirt, planting things, watching them grow. I even enjoy weeding and trimming. It does the inner me good to be able to go play in the yard.

Right now I'm cleaning out flower beds. I have 13 Spent time this afternoon cleaning one. BG enjoyed getting to have one on one time with me in the yard while I did it. I'm tired and sore, but it's a good kind of tired and sore.

Anyone else enjoy yard play?

I've never tried it. Haven't had a yard since I lived with my parents. I could grow some plants in pots on my porch though. I've thought about getting a catnip plant for my cat.

For me it depends what I'm doing in the yard and how I feel. Raking is ok. I'm not a gardener though I love being in nature. I've always admired people who make their yards look nice and "work" in their yards. It does seem fun. I'm glad you enjoy it.

Nope. Not my thing.

We live in a condo by choice, less space outside. No yard work. We are looking to buy a bigger place. Again as little space outside as possible, townhome or condo. I refuse to spend any time working outside. Now don’t get me wrong I love to be outside. I spent all day visiting botanical garden today. It was glorious. I just don’t want to work on outdoors projects. My husband is the same way. I have friends who work Monday through Friday but then spend the whole weekend working in their yard. It sounds absolutely dreadful to me.

But I totally see how and why other people like it.

I am glad you love it!

Downandlonely, plants in pots are a good substitute. That's what I did when I lived in the city.

Wovengalaxy, I enjoy being out in nature too. It fills something inside me. Some times when work keeps me inside for the day I'll go stand outside for a few minutes to be able to soak up the outdoors.

Divine, what you describe sounds horrible to me. Ain't the world grand that we are all different? Life would be boring if we were all the same.

I’m no good with plants, even potted ones, but I can see the appeal of gardening.

I don't have a yard now, but when I was growing up the one place my mother, who was quite mentally ill, seemed to find peace was while working in our very large yard. We had a rose garden that was like a park; over 20 rose bushes! Working in the yard was one of the few times during my growing up years when I felt happy and at peace. It was some hard work, though!

I love it. Rather be outside than inside the house doing house work (I think my house shows that)

I had to do my lawn tractor 100 hr maintenance this last week before I could start mowing. Got front yard mowed, front field & part of the side field then drove my lawn tractor down the road & up the steep driveway to mow my horses turn out area. She loves to help. I even have Izzy teeth Mark's on my lawn tractor hood. Been doing lots of chain sawing back brush & huge tree limbs that broke in the ice storm. It is fun not work & I can say, using loppers on the smaller branches gave me more sore muscles than using the chain saw. We had snow last week. I got my mowing done after dark by the headlights on my tractor the night it snowed while it was still warm. Had 1 1/2 " of snow that next morning. Nothing better than making the outside of the house look neat & pretty.

To add to my not liking yard work, I do love house work. We should all build a commune, some of us will clean inside and some outside. It will be all done

Like Eskie, I'd rather be outside playing in the yard than clean house.

Divine, I like your idea. You do inside. Eskie and I will do outside.

Great idea....love the outside though it is getting to be buggy season & repel is necessary. Came in after working on a huge downed branch & found 2 ticks on me. Chiggers haven't come out yet but soon now it is warmer (we had snow a week ago). I wear my muck boots so I don't feel guilty about spraying the strong repel on them. Bugs or not, I am an outside person.

Lol....I keep up the basics inside during this time of year.

Liz, bet we could do a great job together playing outside.
