I'm a patient advisor at my psych hospital, which means I get to sit on all sorts of different committees and working groups.

One of the working groups I've been on, is focused on an initiative to get non-clinical data into the patient's electronic health record. So the goal is to capture data about the who the patient considers family, friends, pets, interests, and whatever else the patient considers important for their care team to know. This helps staff see their patients as people beyond their diagnosis.

I was recently interviewed about the initiative, as part of a panel, and the article really focuses on the benefits to care of what we're doing. So I thought I'd share the article with you.

Here's the link.

That is wonderful. So glad you are a part of representing patients in such forward thinking programs at this hospital. Must be wonderful to work with leaders who are pro your ideas too. Sounds like a good team working on this

What a good idea. I was asking my long-term gp dr when he might retire (we are both approaching 70) and i was thinking that any new dr wont know me at all.

Excellent! I hope the concept becomes more wide-spread.
