Did you watch the Tokyo Olympics' ceremony last night? I was quite moved by it. I felt it was very beautiful in so many ways. Would you like to talk about the ceremony or about the Olympics in general?

I don't plan to follow them, that said: when I was looking for something to watch earlier, it was everywhere

so sure I'll end up watching some of it

I usually try to follow the equestrianism, but I enjoy watching the Olympics in general.

I watched it early yesterday morning when it was broadcasted live. I only like the parade of nations. The other stuff I thought was lame. But I think I was just creeped out by the empty stadium. But we have had them on all day today for noise. I watched a bit of rowing. I look forward mainly to gymnastics.

Is it possible to watch online? I don't have an antenna or cable box. I usually just stream videos.

In general, my favorite is the winter olympics. I love watching ice skating & skiing & snow boarding. But for this season I'm looking forward to the skate boarding competition. This is the first time to include that sport. They are amazing.

I like the gymnastics, too.

Yeah I want to watch skateboarding too. Do you know when it’s on?

I don't know the answer to your question. I hope someone else will answer that.

I don't know. I don't have a schedule. Can anybody out there tell us?

I’ve only been able to see an overview of the sports that are on each day, but not really any specific times (other than “between midnight and 4pm” for the UK television schedule).

Thank you for your input. That will be helpful to our UK members.

I checked and if you're in the US you can sign up for peacocktv.com and watch NBC online. You don't have to pay, but you have to give your name, age, and zip code. They also get your email address, so I think they send you ads (and probably show the ads online too). I just signed up. I'll let you know how it goes.

well some bad news. You can only watch what they're showing live on NBC. If you want to rewatch things like the Opening Ceremony, you have to pay for Peacock Premium.

I feel blessed because I wasn't watching everything & would tune in periodically. Fortunately I got to see the event I was most interested in, skateboarding. These athletes are representing countries all over the world. I felt sad when they fell. But it was so amazing to see what they can do. I've seen this sport on public television, usually teenagers doing these tricks in their home neighborhoods.

I have mixed feelings about the Olympics being held this year. Generally I like the event, but I sort of think it still should have been postponed further because of covid. I would feel for the athletes (and Japan, its host), but what is right would still have been right. Japan only has fewer than 30% of its population fully vaccinated. That's NOT enough! Even if hardly any spectators are there. This kind of event still gives the wrong message, in my view. This whole covid mess could have been over with by now, but it isn't because of inadequacies and ignorance of some people. I throw a javelin at that!

I heard most of the Japanese didn't want the Olympics to be held.
