I made some tea and looked at some prompts I had written down a few weeks ago. And randomly selected one of them. And just by doing this, I started a new novel. This isn't what I intended, I was just going to do a short creative piece. But it's 4 pages/1508 words right now.

But I'm so excited to be writing and working on it! The idea I've been playing around with for a few weeks in my head. The genre is paranormal/preternatural/spiritual/fantasy.

Unlike other novels I've worked on, I'm doing this one from a first-person perspective, which is a lot of fun and I'm enjoying doing something different.

I also worked more on my poetry book, which is 116 pages.

This has been a very happy, enjoyable day.

Are there any other writers here?

Congrats!

I'm taking a poetry class that starts this week. I don't write much but I know I have something to say.

I mainly write when I need to get out my feelings. Nothing I'd want to publish.

I'm glad you're having fun with it though.

NaNoRiMo is in November and I'm ready to participate! Even excited to do so.

I think if you have something to say, then you should absolutely write! Poetry is a personal passion of mine. It's a way to say SO much with so few words. And it can have such an impact.

Even if you don't share writing, I encourage it. I like to make lists of prompts and work with them. If anyone is interested in some writing prompts, let me know and I'll share them. Writing prompts are a good way to break through writer's block. You don't have to have a plan to write. In fact, most of the time I sit down without a plan. The novel I started as a writing prompt I had come up with and suddenly it transformed into something I could work into a novel. All these ideas flooded into me. But that wasn't even my intention. I just love to write.
