Congrats!!!! Very happy for you. Is it a studio or one bedroom?

We have two of the lamps you showed, the ones with shelves. Ours are in black. We have them in the office. Very convenient and those shelves fit a lot! The only thing is that ours don’t have usb charge slots. Make sure you get the ones with charging thing. Very important in my opinion

The website says studio but I'm guessing it's more of a studio-apartment...it's not just one room, and it's huge for a studio.

Amazon has a yellow one I really wanted with USB ports and a drawer but it is $20 more than the pink one and I plan on buying two. I am not too concerned because my house has 14 outlets.

I made my first purchase for the new house...my boss gave me a $25 Visa gift card for Christmas, so I bought a blender. I carried it to the car all proud of myself.

And I made a major switch in my lifestyle to save me money...sort of.

I have tried everything--and I mean everything--to quit smoking: patches, lozenges, gum, cold turkey, wellbutrin, virgin sacrifice, the list goes on. Nothing has even come close to helping me quit, but what am I to do? I can't keep spending $360 a month (YIKES!!!) when I need that money to go towards the new house.

So I made the decision to roll my own cigarettes. I bought a $18 big bag of Gambler menthol tobacco, a $5 box of 250 Top menthol tubes (equates to a carton and a half), and a $6 Top rolling machine...all for $30. So essentially, I'll pay $10 a month for tubes, and I don't know yet how long that big bag of tobacco will last, but let's say a month just because...So that's $28 for a month's worth of cigarettes!

I rolled my own cigarettes today, and omg why didn't I switch before!? I thought either I'd break the machine in five minutes or I'd be so frustrated I'd give up in five minutes. But it was so easy. Pack the tobacco, insert the tube (which was the hardest part of all), slide the machine and BOOM! An authentic cigarette. And after I made 17, I decided to smoke one thinking it'd be so nasty being cheap tobacco. It had a very, very strong menthol flavor which I love, and it was so much better than anything else I ever smoked.

Now I know how easy it is, and every night I'll roll a couple packs of cigarettes and never have to worry about the cost.

It took me a long time to quit smoking, and I finally did cold-turkey during the advent of this pandemic. I'll be 2 years nicotine- and cigarette/tobacco-free!

But it initially took me downgrading to things like rollup-cigarettes and then cheap cigar thingies. I would ebb and flow between the expensive stuff. Menthol was my thing, too. I loved Newports. But when I downgraded, I also got rid of menthol over time.

You'll quit when you're ready - not before. You're taking the right steps to getting there.

Thank you, Sprinkle. I'll know when I'm ready. I can't quit because of any other reason than my own, and I'm not there yet. My big plan is to quit when I want to have children...but who knows if or when that'll happen.

By Monday my money should be in my account and I'll have the greenlight to go shopping. I am sooooo excited to go shopping. The first order of business is bed/furniture and then I can shop to my heart's content.

The first time around I spent months gathering things here and there from Goodwill hoping it'll work with my future place...this time I know what the house will look like and what I absolutely need, so I can plan to shop accordingly...I can splurge on things like coffee makers but also be a smart shopper to find the best deal. I saw at Walmart today that they had a dual coffee pot/k pod Keirug on display for $10 cheaper than online, but they had no boxes I could pick out...I think the online version looks better anyhow....but any little thing I can compare and contrast and find the better deal will work in my favor...like the lamps another person commented that they had a lamp with USB ports...well the one I want was $20 per lamp more expensive than my secondary choice which is pink...I really want a lot of yellow, but my comforter set and bedside lamps are pink.

I'll show you the throw blankets and throw pillows I really want and have been in my wishlist since the beginning..they are yellow plaid and will really pop...and they look so cozy!

My parents bought me a hammock, and I am not sure if it'll replace a sofa or not...I want to make sure when my parents and grandparents and possibly best friend they'll have a place to sit down...but either way these throws will be perfect for this house and are so happy!

I almost got a yellow comforter, but I felt it'd be too stimulating for bedtime, so I went with pink, which will match the bedside lamps.

Here's the yellow plaid throw blanket and throw pillows, aren't they just SO adorable!?

I'd say that, during this stressful pandemic, quit when you're ready, but continue to think about quitting. That's how I eventually quit.

I love the yellow! Yellow and pink seem to complement one another and really brighten a room!

I'm not sure about the hammock thing though, but it might work. If you have a studio apartment though, you have to consider the space, if you have any guests visiting, and what will work best in terms of organizing and tidying all of your stuff. There's this book by Marie Kondō called The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing, and it offers suggestions on what to keep (things that spark joy), what to toss (things that don't spark joy), and how to organize/tidy, including this folding method that I still have to learn. I'm part-Japanese, but I don't know the customs yet. I love this book though. It got me to think about what I want to keep and what I want to donate, and who I really am.

Your decor style looks really fun, cheery, and interesting!

Yellow is a happy color. And pink is fun. I know I will have very little guests other than my parents, but I'm browsing for sofas to see if I can get a good deal. If anything Im considering buying some folding chairs for the dinner table, but I think some form of seating is needed.

I use folding desks for my bedroom right now. I love folding furniture for small spaces! They are easy to move and store, and they are very practical and functional.

If you also go on places like HSN or QVC, you can find interest-free payment plans to get some furniture there. They also have folding furniture items. The only caveat is that they tend to charge you for shipping - initially and return, unless the product arrives defective. You would also need to pay for a pickup if you don't have a vehicle to take large packages to UPS or the Post Office. But when you get good deals on payment plans, it's worth it!

They might have some folding bookcases and other foldable items that could be useful for your small space.

It's so exciting to see you excited about furnishing and decorating! Yay!

For your color scheme, I think light colors might work best for your dining area. It depends on how you plan on dressing it up though.

Here's a dining table and chairs idea on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Monarch-Speci...%2C128&sr=8-18

Edit: and here are a few more. If round takes up too much space, then a square or rectangular one could provide more space if you put it up against the wall.

https://www.amazon.com/Roomnhome-Com...%2C134&sr=8-17

https://www.amazon.com/WENYU-Round-W...%2C134&sr=8-32

https://www.amazon.com/Signature-Des...4&sr=8-40&th=1

https://www.amazon.com/Powell-Espres...%2C134&sr=8-46

There are also these fun white tolix chairs that you can use for multiple purposes, including holding books, purses, etc., if you find them more appealing than folding chairs:

https://www.amazon.com/Flash-Furnitu...17&sr=8-4&th=1

https://www.amazon.com/Outdoor-Kitch...s%2C117&sr=8-8

And then you can use padding to match your yellow blanket/throw theme:

https://www.amazon.com/Pillow-Perfec...%2C120&sr=8-39

Thank you Sprinkles!

I am squaring a deal for three nice dining table chairs for $20 that I found on Craigslist. My parents will help me out in collecting it and driving it to the house.

I plan on going to Restore Habitat for Humanity and seeing if I can find a couch or wicker loveseat I can use for seating in the living room.

Even better!

Buying things brand new is so expensive. If you lived in my area, I'd so try to help out with some donations. I have tons of things to donate. I've donated furniture and other items that I've collected over the years. I realize that I don't need much anymore, but I do try and enjoy some of the decor that I purchased. I need to unpack them though.

Whatever you get, I'm sure it will look awesome and be a style and decor that you love! I'm no designer, so I have no idea how to decorate. But I love hearing others decorate. It always fascinates me because it is like art, and I always wonder why the "artist" chooses certain colors, themes, and furniture styles for their home. Speaking of which, I meant to ask you those questions, too.

Hey @LiteraryLark I don’t know if these exist in your state or even if you’re interested, but we have a group or organization called Habitat for Humanity that builds houses and what not for the homeless etc i’m sure you’ve heard of it. They have opened two stores here so far called the Re-store. Not “restore “ as in restore art but re-store. All the profits go to HFH. They have all either new, discontinued , single without a set pieces of furniture, rugs art you name it. Some are dent and scratch models with tiny to no imperfections or some have bigger ones. Some stores have contractor types of doors and fixtures and stuff that can be resold. Dirt cheap. There’s no rhyme or reason to their pricing and they all have certain days with extra percentages off. I’ll share a pic of my gorgeous 10 dollar runner in a bit. National chain named stuff all sorts. It’s not like thrifting and all the profits go to a good cause. I’m not sure if they are National but they are great for new home and apartment folks on a budget.
