The chairs fell through but I'll take a trip to Restore and see what they have. I gave my parents a gift card to their favorite restaurant for supporting me the past few months and for helping me move. It made them very happy.

I actually am not a fan of Ikea. I found the instructions difficult without words. And I also slept on a very uncomfortable Ikea bed for a while.

Well on that I agree with. It’s like solving pie but my husband is a fixer kind of guy and just figures out that stuff. Ive heard their mattresses aren’t always great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk __________________ "I carried a watermelon?" President of the no F's given society. |

I know ikea used to offer service of putting things together for you but I don’t know if they do it during pandemics I hear you though. I’d not put ikea furniture in the areas like living or dining room as it’s completely not my style (two extra chairs we have are ok though as they just look like any other chairs). But my guest room is used by young folks so it suits their style. I’d not buy ikea bed to sleep on every night. But as a guest bed no one complained so far as it’s usually just a week the longest. I did buy quite expensive memory foam mattress to put over the mattress to make it more comfortable for guests. |

Today was a whirlwind crazy busy day.
Woke up every three hours from being so excited, got out of bed by 7-7:30, left early, made a $76 purchase at the Dollar Store going up and down the aisles picking out everything I need for the new place including dishes, bowls, glasses, cleaning supplies, etc. PICKED UP THE KEYS!!!! at 10am sharp, got most of the stuff out of storage, drove down to my new hometown to pay for the furniture, dropped off stuff at the new house, went to work for 7 hours, went back to storage and got it all cleared out, went back to my house, marked off a checklist of all things good and bad (typical thing landlords do) and saw they fixed all the knobs on the cabinets, fixed the hutch door, put in a new dowel for the closet, and removed all the garbage which is awesome....drove to Walmart, spent $350 buying everything I need...almost went to my new home to drop it off but parents said it's time to come home cuz they didn't want me to be out late on a work night......gabbed with Mom and Dad about my day. Mom and Dad are going to buy me a microwave as a housewarming gift since my place doesn't have one. So, so, so happy. But so, so, so exhausted. Gonna wake up early to drop off all the Walmart stuff, go to work for a 10 hour haul, then go fiddle around in my new house. Zzzzzzzzz..... |

It's going to be a crazy busy next few days, but at least it's my weekend. Since Monday I've been up at the crack of dawn, working on the house, going to work, going back to work on the house...Yesterday I finally slept in til 9am even though I had work at 10:30, I was just so exhausted but I slept in till the last minute and felt so well rested.
Today I woke up early again, but I've got a million errands to do and I need to sort through all my belongings. I sorted through pretty much all the Dollar Store items yesterday and washed all the plates and utensils. There's still bowls and glasses/cups to wash. And there's a ton of stuff at my parent's house to move. I don't know how I'll do it all, but at least the next three days are free to do what I need to get done. Tomorrow the furniture people are coming, and I am hoping to sort through everything today so I can sweep and mop...the first thing I did was drag mud through the house...D'oh! I have a nice broom and dustpan and I bought a swiffer jet...my floors are wood. I also sent an email to my landlord saying one of the stove top burners is not working. I refuse to cook on a stove if something is not working...been through that already!!!! I haven't told my parents about that part so they don't panic. I'm just hoping the landlord is nice enough to send a repairman out in a reasonable amount of time. I'm also on the hunt for a microwave. My place doesn't have one. I'll see what Walmart has. If I pick it up today I can just cook microwavable meals until the stove is in working condition again. But I'm not going to be ignorant about it. No way! Then there's spare keys to be made, one for my parents and one as a hide a key in case I lock myself out...and I won't go through it all but it's a huge list of to-dos. It still doesn't feel mine or that it's not real, like there's a catch...people I've talked to say it may take a couple weeks for it to really sink in. But I just can't believe it's really mine and I am so over the moon about this place! |

The furniture people are coming!!!!
Does anyone know the best way to show pictures on PC? I'm almost completely set up for my new house. Everything except for what is at my parents' house is totally unpacked and set up. My boss wasn't at work yesterday, but if she's here today I'll be picking out three new bettas. I found some really cool "fish tanks" AKA large, funky shape bowls/vases that will house my new bettas (one in each of course) and I talked to the fish guy at my work and he says I need at least 8-10 hours of some form of light, so at Bi-Mart I picked up five really nice LED lanterns that are both powerful and adjustable, so I can control how much light is showing and if the power ever goes out I will have massive light throughout the house. I went to the food pantry and got several bags full of essential goodies, then at BiMart I bought a ton of canned goods and some spices and other things that go in the spice cabinet. I washed a big chunk of dishes and all that's left are a few tupperware containers, the cookie sheets, the bakeware, and the cutting boards. There's still some essentials I need from the dollar store, and I need to get more groceries, but a fun project since it shouldn't be raining today is to go to the nursery and pick out new plants and soil. I think I have about five big empty pots...I've got three set up already that survived both the last fire and the harsh winter. I put up my wind chimes and they sound so beautiful. And I've got about boatload of goodies from Amazon that I am excited about. My place is really coming together! |
