I received an email this afternoon saying my application for the apartment I've been hoping and praying for HAS BEEN APPROVED!!!!!!!!!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!

I am absolutely in love with the place. It's got my personality and my energy. It has mint green walls, a red brick wall which is a high priority/top priority on my wishlist for what I look for in any home, and it's massive. It feels much more spacious than my little mobile home that burnt down. The kitchen and living room is connected and very large, but the bedroom is much larger than a typical master bedroom, moreso than my parents.

The kitchen is great, lots of counter space and an electric stove which is AWESOME, a cute white hutch with lots of space to put dishes and stuff, lots of cabinets in the kitchen, good size fridge with big freezer...living room is very spacious andcan put an entertainment console with a TV plus ergonomic chair plus more seating space...

And one thing I love most about this place is all the ledges. The south window is large with a heavy, sturdy rack to hold my plants. All the windows have big ledges to put plants, fish and knick knacks on it.

It's been a long process and a lot of effort, but I am celebrating with a bottle of bubbly for my success with the good news. I can start signing papers and moving out on Monday. AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I first found this listing on Christmas, another Christmas miracle in conjunction with my white Christmas. Since then I presented a cover letter, letters of recommendation, and a great effort in providing the realty people with everything they need and swiftly answering all their questions and requests. The realty person I have been working with is very responsive and very polite throughout the whole process.

It's been agony to wonder after these past few months of whether I'll ever find a place, and not just any place, "the one", the place I can imagine myself staying for years, and there's so many lovely things with this studio apartment. I am in absolute ecstacy. I am beyond excited and so happy. I have a place to call home.... I HAVE A PLACE TO CALL HOME!!!!!!!!

I Got the PLACE!!!!!!!!!!

I keep finding more congratulations gifs that I wanted to share here!

I'm interested to know when the big move-in day is, too. Will you be having a housewarming party of sorts - like the social distancing kind outside or via Zoom with mail-in gifts? Or with safe and vaccinated others within your new home?

Hopefully your new home is filled with positive energy and hope for a brighter future!

The realty people were really pushing Monday, so I talked with my boss and she's allowing me time off to sign the papers, and then I promised the boss I'll be in as soon as I'm done.

Thank you for the gifs, they are really sweet.

Hopefully Monday the papers will be signed and I'll have the keys. Tomorrow the realty person I've been working with is sending me some preparation info about costs and what not.

Yes and no about the housewarming party. So, when I first moved out, I received a lot of gifts, but the house burnt down...accidental oven fire...the gasline had been disconnected and previous owner put a rubber tray inside the oven...poof!

BUT. After my house burnt down my bestie sent me a care package for the next move which included a personal copy of Willy Wonka (DVD) and a coffee mug, and my parents saved the glass patio table my brother sent me for the first house which will be my new dining table, and my Mamma has a few kitchen things for me that she'll bring up when she comes to visit, but knowing my Mamma she'll be sending me little things every now and then.

So no real party but my loved ones are all pitching in to help me move.

I am so happy for you. Sounds like a place full of character, with the wide shelf spaces and the china cabinet.

So, do you have a specific theme to your new decorating and/or furnishing?

I'm sorry you lost so much from the fire though. That's pretty scary and traumatic. I keep hearing in the news about those in Colorado who have lost everything. They kept saying how some of them were relieved to not have all the stuff, even though they do miss some memorabilia they've collected. They said their perspective on collecting stuff has changed because of that experience.

Has your perspective on collecting stuff changed? Do you miss some of the stuff you no longer have?

It defintely does!

I picked out all the main furniture I want.

I'm getting a Nectar bed (after playing Goldilocks and the Three Bears with three other mattresses) that has cooling features, the perfect firmness, and it will contour with my back and neck...and it comes with a complete set of pillows, sheets, and mattress covers--a $400 value complely free! The mattress was $300 cheaper than anticipated with the perks of the $400 free set.

I picked out a white country-style platform bed with huge storage drawers underneath and the top has sliding doors with cabinets and cubbies which is so perfect. It'll save me from buying a dresser and nightstand!

AND I found a entertainment console that matches the platform bed and is cheaper than what I wanted on Amazon. It's white and country-style with the same type of sliding doors and cubbies and cabinets but obviously for a TV and movies.

And last but not least I found an ergonomic recliner that met my financial expectations, and it fits to my body with a remote that controls up/down with lumbar support and headrest support AND it has a "senior citizen" feature, meaning it will hoist me up to a fully standing position...I told the salesman--who was exceptional and provided an outstanding experience--that I have a bad back and can be in excruciating pain that makes it difficult to get out of a chair...so I was happy to find an ergonomic chair that not only fit me well without being too bulky and had the special remote and I thought the "senior citizen" feature was an added bonus.

I'm hoping to pay for it on Monday after I get my keys. MONDAYYYYYY!!!!!!

I have mint green walls, so I want a lot of yellow (predominantly yellow), white, blue, and pink in my house. And so far I have a country theme in my home, but I am also on the coast so it'll be a country-coastal duo theme.

I've lost two homes, one in a wildfire and the other in a housefire. There's a lot of things I miss, but I also believe in fresh starts. Collecting stuff has definitely changed. There's a few things I cherish that I've kept safe since the wildfire, but I am no longer collecting things for sentimental value. No more needful things.

I absolutely love your furniture buys (mentioned in a different reply) and your themes ( coastal and country ) and your colors! I love light minty teal (more greenish than blue) and some light pastel yellows, myself. I also love dark colors, so I'm rather eclectic. I do love coastal and country and industrial themes though! It sounds like your new place will be perfect for your themes! I hope all your furniture arrives in good condition and works well!

I'm considering getting either a chair and ottoman set or a manual recliner (I've not decided which or where), and I'm also considering downsizing to a twin bed (I can donate my full bed and full frame for a good cause, I hope). I'm not there yet, as I don't know if I'm moving in 8 months, or if I'm staying for another year and 8 months. If I stay, I'm definitely going to make some changes! I'm liking your choice of furniture, so I'm trying to get some ideas before I make my decision in about 6 months.

I haven't been through a wildfire or home fire, but I have been homeless and through some traumatic ordeals. I've also been stolen from. So I have some similar perspectives now on collecting stuff. I have lost so many sentimental things that now I am finally making peace with how things can change. I'm slowly but surely organizing my storage areas to scan and shred or just toss things I don't need. I have tons of donations to make soon, too.

Anyway, it's exciting to hear of your new endeavors! I love hearing how people decorate their homes!
