I think it was the right call. From what you said about them they would have had you working full time for part time pay and made you feel guilty for resenting it. I loved it when I volunteered for the animal shelter. It was vital and everybody else was happy to do it. At the library it was quieter and there wasn’t as much interaction but I still loved it because I was around books. Those were awesome places to volunteer. Again congratulations!

All they would say was "it would depend on need and budget." That sounds to me like they would use and abuse me.

I was looking for a part time job once, it was the school of nursing receptionist, for 32 hrs a week and memorize where everybody is located. I was like, how is that part time??! I barely worked 32 hrs when i was supposed to be full time. They dont make the winner of the marathon go back and run it five more times to make his elapsed time / work equal to the slowesr runner. Thats my theory and im sticking with it.

Wow. That's great. You of the age to retire I guess. I would not last beyond my spouse when she bags out.

You can still work part time job of your choosing right? That’s the thing. Retiring from your career job gives you options of doing something else. Of course volunteering is nice but you can still do things for a pay

I'm having some really mixed emotions today. I sent out emails letting people know the 30th is my last day. All the good wishes and kind words make me realize how much I will miss some people. But I'm soooo worn out and tired of management's bs. Can't wait to be gone, but sad about it too.

I get the feeling if the old management was still there you might not retire. Or would have stayed on part time. It’s a shame good things are getting ruined with the corporation first motto.

I have found for me there are usually mixed emotions with almost everything. Only time I didn't have mixed emotions was when I left my marriage. (That was total relief) but that is not normal.

I honestly don't know if I would stay even if my old boss was still with the agency. Senior management is taking the agency in a direction I don't want to go. They are all about raking in the money while screwing the employees and the kids we are supposed to be helping. Sadly, I foresee them ending up in the news in the next few years when something bad happens.

I agree mixed feelings are common. I shared my personal cell number and email address with the people I want to stay in touch with.
