Yeah I've heard of bearded dragon! You're right a breaded one sounds like something served at a Renaissance festival...or not. Never know what people eat these days.

I did not. I'm a lightweight when it comes to alcohol, lol. But it was at the Renaissance Festival!

Also a lightweight though I haven't had any alcohol in decades. And I haven't been to the Renaissance Festival since high school! I hardly remember the fair itself, just how SUPER HOT the day was. Over 50 years ago and I remember baking like the foods there probably.

Yeah since I like pork! (On a related note, I've heard rattlesnakes taste like chicken but I wouldn't know)
I never knew alligators could be food. I've always thought of them as predators one must be careful to avoid, especially since they sneak up on people and seem to be good at hiding....until it's too late. __________________ Call me "owl" for short! You can get gator here in Florida too. Never had any, but have seen it on menus.
tangential story... had bbq'd armadillo at a friend's once years ago. It was good. My mom asked me what it tasted like. I said "armadillo." She said "no, what did it taste like?" I repeated "armadillo." She got ticked off after we went around a couple of more times. I wasn't trying to be a smart arse. It didn't taste like anything else. It tasted like armadillo. |

Never had armadillo either! They sure are funny looking; I've only seen them in The Clash's "Rock the Casbah" video. They look like something that should have gone extinct millions of years ago.
Back to fireworks/crackers....In my building it's sometimes hard to tell if a "boom" I heard is from somebody slamming their car/truck door in the garage or if that's something going off in the distance. Only about 4:45 here now, this will be over in a few hours. But I'm waiting for the noise. __________________ Call me "owl" for short! Hmmm....looks like some good tips in here. "Okay, enough photos. No fireworks yet today, but the yahoo's started shooting guns mid-afternoon. Beeg is glued to me, but not too freaked out - yet!
Posted too soon. They are shooting off fireworks all around us. He turned into a quivering mass of scared pup. I put his Thundershirt on and rubbed lavender oil on his ears. They are helping. Last edited by lizardlady; Jul 04, 2022 at 08:29 PM.. |

Aside from fireworks.....I bought an alligator steak at a seafood shop in a near by town here in Ky. Obviously they shipped it in. Haven't cooked it yet. Had cooked alligator years ago....it tasted like fishy chicken. The lady at the store said it shouldn't taste fishy. Will let you know how it turns out when I cook it

When I've had it, it didn't taste anything like chicken. Very fatty, that's why I thought it was more like pork than chicken.

Ok it’s almost 10pm. There’s loud popping by us. And I mean loud. Non stop firecrackers or whatever these are.We have no pets but we have to be up for work. My husband gets up at 5am. And he cannot be sleepy at work. It’s so loud I can’t even understand what’s going on. We can’t see out the window. It’s not sanctioned event. We already had official fireworks in local neighborhoods, they were quick and not loud. This is a nightmare

Guess the Park in town had fireworks tonight. The other park outside town had a huge display last night. Could hear the distant crackling.
I was out BBQ'ing on my front deck & my cat wanted to go outside. At the same time as the fireworks, a small thunder storm was rolling in so fireworks & thunder. As I was bringing in my steak, Gabe wandered up to the door & calmly let me know he changed his mind about being outside. He is the coolest cat I havevever had. He has so much self-confidence from the day he showed up as a 4 mo old on my farm & took ownership of it. Though he will hide under my kitchen sink in a really bad thunder storm when lightning it hitting on the farms very close around us. Kinda pretty to watch the fireworks & the lightning from a distance while I was outside BBQ'ing __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck. The BBQ was terrific! But I had to watch the fireworks by myself. I did great. All around me was BOOM BOOM BOOM, and there was a "floor show" across the street that was cool and at the beach the big ones were going off. It was really cool but not the same as the real deal (AKA the "professionally-planned-out-with-a-big-finale" show) I checked in on Elwood and he was as happy as a clam. Didn't phase him one bit.
I only watched 45 minutes of it before I went to bed. I couldn't hear anything in my house. It really surprised me! Especially with how loud it was outside. |
