My Dad used to take me to musicals because I loved them.

Key chain? Nice pen? Does he like gardening, if so some seeds to plant (could be food or flowers)?
An IOU note with favours on it - something like an offer to cook a meal, or wash the car, mow the lawn sort of thing. You can design those by hand and make them look fun. How about a favourite family photo framed in a nice frame? |

You can never go wrong with an IOU! You can get so creative with it with both the IOU and the booklet. Fabulous idea!
I'm thinking making an IOU/"what I love about Dad" book. I can get a pretty journal or notebook and fill it with fun creative and loving things. Awesome idea! |

That is a great idea for stocking stuffers for the bag I'm giving him....like they have a big car wash section and a tool section and stuff to organize things and batteries...my dad is obsessed with batteries.

And following up with that idea with the gift cards, stick them inside the IOU/why I love my dad booklet! I'm getting really excited now. And the same thing can be done for my mom. Their birthdays are two weeks apart.

LL was right on the money today!!!!
I went to the dollar store and found a ton of cool stuff!!! I got my parents both a nice looking set of journals where I'll write IOU's and "what I love about Mom/Dad" I got them both equally heartfelt birthday cards, and I found my dad a lot of car wash stuff including three sets of microfiber towels, three Shamwow type of towels, and car fresheners. I found a TON of stuff and I could have gone even crazier with what I found!!!! And it cost about $16! Thank you LL for your wonderful suggestion! And the other day I went to the video store and the lady was nice enough to give me an extra $5 on a video I turned in plus $1 for another video I turned in---the perks of living in a small town is you get to know people and she knows how often I come in--sometimes twice a week! So she did a nice thing for me, and in turn I bought $16 worth of goodies--four movies and an Elvis CD. Three movies are for Mom and Dad, the fourth is the original IT which long story short for weeks I came in, asking myself whether I have that movie, going home to check, then intending to go buy the movie only to forget it if I have it. I am beyond excited for my presents. They're gonna hear the whole story about teaming up with my online friends with all your wonderful ideas...I really hope they like it!!! |
