Why does Italy look like a boot on the maps of the world?

I don't get it

Did my phone do the red face one idk that's the one I pressed for embarrassed but idk if it got the right button .....?

You did get the embarrassed face. Idk why Italy looks like a boot, it does look kinda like a knee-high stiletto heel type boot though. It's a peninsula.
