I've mentioned before that I am not a girly girl. I'm so excited. I ordered a new chainsaw last week. It came yesterday!
 I'm so happy. It's electric so I don't have to struggle trying to start it. I discovered I'm no longer able to start a gas powered one. I don't have the upper body strength to pull the cord. It's big enough though that I can cut through big stuff. Happy, happy, joy, joy!!!! |

I have one,a Milwaukee M18 that I use around my property to trim trees with.I got a good deal with it through an independent tool dealer I deal with last month

I have one of the gas powered ones but thinking about getting a small branch cutter one. Maybe interchangable batteries with a new power drill I need to get. Batteries in my old one died & won't charge & I am sure a 2007 drill will no longer have batteries that can be replaced. I have some serious work needs done in my house as finally planning on getting my master closet cedar sections this year so I can finally have a master bedroom closet.
I own more tools on my farm than I ever did when I was married. They are my favorite shopping to do. Enjoy your new chainsaw. An aside.....there is a guy at the Ky Horse Park who uses his chainsaw to carve jumps & obstacles for the spring eventing show. I met him & enjoyed doing the floral decorations on one of his creations. Eskie, I have a 10 inch battery powered one. The charge does not last long on it. Read the reviews of any you are considering. I bought 2 spare back up batteries for it. Depending on what I'm cutting the three will last 30-60 minutes. Given how much cleanup I have since the hurricane that can be frustrating.
Since I haven't got the umph to start a gas powered one anymore I reached corded vs. cordless. Reviews of cordless kept mentioning the batteries did not last long. The new 18 inch is corded. I'm dragging larger blow down stuff close enough to the house to use the corded on. I plan to get a portable generator before next hurricane season. Once I get it I can use it to power the chainsaw further away from the house. |

Gonna toot my own horn for sec.
I've gotten comfortable enough with the new 18 inch saw I took down two "trash" trees in the yard yesterday. They were each about a foot in diameter. After I cut them down I cut them into shorter pieces I can load in the truck and haul off. I have a nice sense of accomplishment with what I've done with the saws. Before anyone fusses at me for cutting down trees let me say I have been a "tree hugger" for decades. I have a butt ton of China Berries that sprouted around my barn. They are ruining the roof of the barn. I'm cutting them back to protect the roof. And to that the state doesn't consider them trees. State says they are "bushes". Damned things get to be over 30 feet tall, but guv'ment idiots say they are bushes!  The dang things grow like weeds, so my cutting them down to 5 or 6 feet high will not kill them. It's more like massive pruning.Secondary happy news about all this is that I'll have enough firewood to last me a couple of years!

I get the "junk trees/bushes". Here in Ky on our farms we call them "junk trees" we have wild honeysuckle that takes over everywhere & hackberry trees & I hate the locust trees cause they have thorns about 2 inches long. Puncture lawn tractor tires. My woods actually overgrew my house. I hired a crew to bulldoze out all the junk brush & trees between my house & my woods. They had to bulldoze out the chain link fence because the honeysuckle had groen all into it & couldn't be saved. Like having a blank canvas to start designing my farm now.
