...you had a "little extra", or if your belly sticks out?

OK, I know it's winter, but I use the pool and hot tub at the gym a few times a week and when I go to hotels, I'll use the pool.

I would really like to wear a bikini when I go to the gym and when I go on vacation in January, but I have muffin top and a protruding belly, and the BMI chart puts me on the fine line of "overweight" and "obese", pushing closer to "obese"

Some women say, wear a bikini if you have the confidence to do it, and then there's some women who say, some women just shouldn't wear a bikini.

I am turning 30 next week, and I want the confidence to wear a bikini, but I also want to wear something flattering and not have women look at me and say, "some women just shouldn't wear a bikini."

What do you think? Do all women have the right to wear a bikini, or does it just look bad if you're a little too "extra" in some places?

I don’t judge plus size or skinny women for wearing bikinis.

Personally I have a full piece. Don’t think I’ll get the guts to wear a bikini.

I am looking into a high-waisted bikini. I wear high rise jeans/undies and I feel it suits my figure better, and having a high rise bikini will add more coverage while still showing some skin.

Look at this:

It'll still show my stomach though, and my stomach sticks out. So idk how I feel about that.

I say wear what comfortable and the heck with what other people say. I’m overweight and I wear a two piece, it’s not a bikini though. It’s a flattering style and I’ve gotten lots of compliments on it. I go to the Y for aqua fitness and there’s all kinds of swim suits all styles and the people come in all shapes and styles too. I feel sad for those that wear shorts and t shirts though, really no one judges except themselves.

Personally, I wouldn't wear a bikini, I like to be more covered up. But years ago, I went to a Club Med in Mexico for vacation and there was one woman there who was definitely obese and she wore a bikini and she was so confident she looked great. I really admired her for wearing what she wanted.

I used to wear two piece suits all the time, but was seriously underweight at the time. Since I gained weight and grew a big pot belly I wear a one piece. I feel like I look better in the one piece.

I don't personally but mine is an issue of scars more than anything. But I love women who are of all sizes who are comfortable enough to be them in whatever form that looks like.

I like tankini tops and swim shorts or mini skirts sets. Lands end makes the best ones. I cannot find right one piece because my top and bottom are mismatched size. So I need two piece. I don’t care what other people wear. That’s what I wear

My daughter is 34 and she wears bikini. But she wears high rise ones because her cessarian scar is pretty fresh. I wore bikinis when I was younger. Just not comfortable anymore. You aren’t even 30, so wear what you want

It’s very pretty. Not sure though how the top would fit. It doesn’t have any support and boobs will fall out plus it’s quite small on top

What’s wrong with swim shorts. I love them. They don’t ride up my butt like bikinis do and they fit really nicely. I don’t wear swim shirt but they make really nice ones. My husband wears swim t shirt because he is extremely hairy and it’s just not comfortable as hair soaks up so much water. I sure hope no one feels sad for us in a pool!

How would you know people wear what they wear because they judge themselves? Such thought never occurred to me.

Women's Board Shorts, Cute Swim Shorts, Swim Bottoms, Long Board Shorts, Long Swim Shorts, Women's Active Swimwear

What’s wrong with wearing these? Asking those who feel sad for people wearing shorts to swim

A lot of women with plenty of inches to pinch wear bikinis nowadays, so plenty of people would not judge. Likely more than would. So if you want to wear it, I say do. My only concern would be that it fits and doesn't fall down.

I prefer full bathing suits or the separates type, but that's me. I do the latter because that's what feels best on me.

Definitely wear what you feel comfortable in, most people won’t notice, and whatever they think is of no consequence.

I wear a one piece these days for regular swimming- it’s because I did have an unfortunate bikini top popping incident in the pool once so I feel more secure in my speedo one piece which is streamlined for swimming.

I would maybe wear a bikini if I was sunbathing on a hot beach though, not that it’s likely I will. My stomach isn’t flat btw, although I’m in healthy bmi.

To sunbathe I wear a bikini with a long front. (I forgot what those are called). I am in the obese category as well and I feel comfortable this way.

I wore bikinis between the ages of 12 and 21, when I was pregnant with my first child and didn't have time to go to pools and beaches anymore. I was thin, felt like I looked boyish, but I suppose I looked cute. After I had children I dropped them off at the pool, but sure didn't have time to hang out there myself. If all of us (kids, friends, and I) went to the beach I wore a t-shirt and cut-offs, same thing I'd wear today.

I'm hoping the pool in my town will have aqua fitness this summer, but nah, at age 60 I'm going to respect myself. My bikini days were loads of fun and they are in the distant past.

Before I had children I used to wear one.........Now, I wouldn't wear one mainly because of stretch marks that I feel are unattractive.

I think if someone feels comfortable wearing one, go ahead...!!
