I am someone who can't have a favorite mug, because I have to use all of my mugs so each mug can have a turn being the favorite mug. And sometimes I only use certain mugs for certain moods or occasions, but I feel strange if I use the same mug over and over...

I do the same thing with my pajama shirts. I have to rotate through all my pj shirts so each pj shirt can be equally loved...

It's something I've always done my whole life. As a child I'd have switch which foot I put on my shoes and socks first so each foot could feel just as important.

I don't necessarily think there's anything wrong with that, in fact I think it's admirable that I believe in love and equality for all, I just think it's an odd thing to do.

Is there anyone else like me? I'm also curious about the people who have to have one special mug or one special shirt. What is it about that mug or shirt that is so special you have to use it everyday no matter what? And how would you feel if you had to use another mug?

Happily, all my mugs are the same, so I never know which one I'm using.

I can see where you're coming from, though.

No favorite mugs. I mean some I like better than others but I use them all. The only preference might be if I need specific size. Most of our mugs are large but a few are medium and I have small cups so it depend on the size of the drink.

I have a lot of clothes so I can’t possibly have one favorite shirt

I have a lot of mugs. No favorite I use every day, but I will pick that day's mug so it matches my mood.

I too have lots of mugs. I tried to cull the amount of mugs I have but it wasnt successful because I really like them all. I use a large mug in the morning (Love the saying on this one) because I like a very big drink of tea at that time. I use other ones during the day that take my fancy. I have cat mugs and Garfield mugs and possum mugs and christmas mugs and round mugs and funnel shaped mugs. Even a mug with my name on it. So they are all my favorites.

Cant they all be your special mug?

One, i always sleep in my favorite, my birthday suit, unless i'm sick and then it's flannel pj's with a hood.

When i was working, i had about 6 mugs on my desk. I tried to change about once a week or month. Now they are all in a box and i just use a starbucks mug, or for espresso, a fine china teacup.

Ive always had a favorite shirt. My mother used to call me Maynard G Krebs because i wore an inside out navy sweatshirt til it absolutely wore out.

I guess I'm a minimalist. I own one mug. It's a dark blue speckled camp mug. My son gave it to me and I'm very comfortable with it.

I have a lot of coffee mugs. They are all awesome. I have one that says "Tea Rex" and there's a dinosaur on it. I do have my favorites, but they're also all awesome, since I only buy mugs that call to me.

One coffee mug that was a going away present from our admin said that my name meant "light". In the next olympics, i had a favorite Chinese athlete who had the best name! And it turned out her name ALSO meant light. I think it was Xia - pronounced Shah.

I choose the mug that is both large and in the front of the cupboard. Occasionally I'll pick one based on its looks. Also, I have several t-shirts I wear (t-shirts and jeans are my look) and I pick them by look, with my grey and black one being my first choices.

As far as ocd things go, it's not a big deal imo. In my experience throughout my life my personal flavor of ocd gets worse when there are things I am trying to avoid thinking about.
When I was a young teenager there was one girl who had so many clothes. Always had the latest things, multiple versions of what had just gotten popular. A friend remarked about being jealous, but to me, at that time I also thought it was kind of "rude" somehow to the clothing items to not care about them, to wear an outfit once etc. I also found early on that to me the most fun about fashion is putting things together in different ways, appreciating the items.
Unrelated, but at one point I found out that the girl with all the outfits had 2 or 3 sisters, they were all close in age/same size and they all shared, so that in some ways was better, but worse, for the clothes, just being passed around. LOL

I like the idea of those things being shown equal love, LL. That's very sweet.

I have different mugs, in varying sizes and thickness, and change them based on what the ambient temps are like, and whether it's tea or coffee I'm drinking. Some mugs will just keep the bevvies hot for longer, that's all.

I do go through them from time to time and either give them away or pack them away, if they haven't been used in awhile.
