I feel like I’ve kinda outgrown mine.
But since I’ve already changed it once (I was Hooligan), I can’t change it again …. |

@Crazy Hitch - I hear you. I think you are not a hooligan, in fact looking at your posts you have really reached out to a lot of people and supported them. I am glad you changed your name.
I am trying to find something beneficial about your current name so I looked up the meaning of hitch. hitch To fasten, connect, or attach. So maybe you are making a connection that is helping you to cope with the challenges you face. Or maybe you are facing your crazy and making a connection so you can move beyond it at least to some degree. Maybe reframing your name would make it more acceptable to you. Anyway I always call you CH! lol As far as my name goes CANDC, when I signed up I was hoping that I could help people cope with the challenges they faced. I have lots to learn about that. So this is what I was thinking when I chose CANDC C=Caring AND C=Compassion so CANDC So those were the two things I hoped to express. I am still working on that. My regret is that I capitalized it but I did not intend to yell, it just happened that way. And that is the rest of the story Who else has a story about their name and how they chose it that they feel like sharing. This could be a very interesting thread! __________________ Super Moderator Community Support Team "Things Take Time" |

I like my nom de plume. I was first known as sidestepper, but didn’t really like that. I did a poll on Tiamat, but before I could change it someone took it. So I chose Nammu. Those are ancient names for goddesses. I’m really into ancient mythology and history and I wanted to reflect that instead of my insecurities.

Mine’s probably self explanatory, the further I go through life the less I realise I know, I’m frequently discombobulated by life so yes it still fits.

Candc, thanks for explaining your username. I always wondered about the meaning.
I've used lizardlady for so long it feels like part of my identity. It's part of who I am. The name started out as a silly real life nickname. I love the heat here in Florida. One day a coworker said I was like some lizard lady and it stuck. |

I like my username. It references one step of Claire Weekes’ approach to anxiety: face, accept, float, & let time pass. It’s a reminder every time I login.

SquarePegGuy is based on "Square Peg in a Round Hole," a term used to describe misfits. However, I'm proud of my uniqueness, so I'll keep it. My blog, in fact, is "Thoughts of a Square Peg on a Round World."
I used to go by just SquarePeg on other forums, but some folks assumed I was female; Peg is short for Peggy or Margaret. So I didn't want to deceive anyone and decided to make it clear that I'm male. @CANDC, nice response in Post #2. |

People have often thought there was some meaning to my name. And definitely I do, at this point, like it because I always feel like life just has it's ups and downs and as long as you stay on the seesaw it will go up and down, but better to be experiencing the ride than not at all.
BUT My name has no meaning. Back in 2014 I was at home and signing up for PC while an episode of the Office was on. It was the episode where Dwight and Ryan are plotting against Jim, who was newly promoted to Office Co-Manager. Ryan asks Dwight if he has ever "seen Saw" (As in the movie). Dwight doesn't understand and says "See-saw? Of course I seesaw! I seesaw everyday!" And it was a random word that I put in as my username. But honestly I like it. Whenever people ask me how I am, all I can think is "Well there's some bad and there's some good, and I'm here." __________________ What if I fall? Oh, my dear, but what if you fly? I feel like I've kind of outgrown my username. But I've had it for so long on so many platforms that I feel like it's part of me, so I'm not going to change it.
The original meaning was I felt like I had 2 parts of me - the part I showed the world which at the time was a successful career woman, and the inside part of me who was a scared, messed up little girl. hence the "split" and image. But now after all the therapy and healing I've done, I feel like I now present a more integrated persona. But like I said, it''s just part of who I am online. |

I like my username. I love my kitties, Helen Rose and Amelia, although at the time when I picked it, I had my dear Esther who was my bestest cat ever. And she slept a lot as she was older. I wanted sleepykitty or something but that was taken. So I picked slumberkitty. Although my Helen Rose has chosen my Dad as her person and my kitty Amelia who is outside by her choice, not mine, comes best to my Dad--she is part feral--and so I actually have a dog Zoey who was supposed to be my Mom's but who is my dog. But I do love kitties and I love a good nap so I love my user name.

When I first chose my user name, it referred to a mistake I made inadvertently. I feared that we were having marital problems because we were cursed from this. Since then I have learned that wasn’t true because there are no curses (which I was raised to believe there are). The name refers to a society left in ruins because the people didn’t treat each other right. Ironically, that was the true reason for our problems.
Plus, I like getting called “Tish” __________________ "And don't say it hasn't been a little slice of heaven, 'cause it hasn't!" . About Me--T |

the only regret I have about my username is that it doesn't have my name in it (I think it's the only forum I use without my name being mentioned somewhere in my username)
I too, changed my name- I used to be shattered sanity, which, to be fair, I should have stuck with because that's how I feel but raging vortex is cool. a lot of thought went in to it, and I didn't randomly choose it |
