Apparently the dinosaur extinction wasn't even the biggest mass extinction in the history of the world, they didn't say what WAS the biggest mass extinction though. Going to see if I can find out.

Yes, or maybe some kind of massive ice age event. There's been a few I think.

There have actually also been many great asteroid/meteor impacts throughout the eons. Their craters are detected everywhere on the Earth.
