Would you consider it a form of maturity when you start realizing everyone goes through social problems whether they admit it or not? When I was a lot younger and even in high school, I used to think the problems I had in terms of social situations were just me that experienced them, everyone else appeared to not have any problems. I would ask myself why it's always me that has those problems and no one else, then I started realizing that's not the case especially when I went off to college and even after graduating from college. I've come to realize that everyone has dealt with people ghosting them out and dealing with toxic behavior, they may deny it or may not even realize what's happening but everyone does go through that.

Looking back, I think I was quite immature in my line of thinking when I was in high school and even before then. Realizing that everyone goes through problems actually seemed to help in a way, it made me realize that I'm not the only one who struggles. At some point, everyone gets ghosted, everyone gets treated like crap and gets taken advantage of at some point. I do believe that understanding that it's not always about you and only you can be a sign of maturing especially in the way you deal with it, none of this why me and only me crap and believing that you're the only one who experiences these kinds of issues.

Yes I do consider it a part of maturity- I was much like you describe yourself, very self focused, it took time and life experience for me to learn the things you describe.

Yep I agree, I’ve learned that everyone goes through crap. It would also explain why no one appeared to understand when I would tell them what I was going through, it was more of the fact that they were used to it. They didn’t admit it but they went through similar stuff so they were desensitized to it, I’ve become that way myself. When I hear a very young person complaining about a social issue, I always think yep I‘ve been there and I don’t have much of a reaction which probably gives off the wrong impression.

Everyone experiences rejection (and criticism). Everyone handles these differently. I don't handle it very well, I spiral out of control.

Yep I agree with you. Everyone experiences it whether they admit it or not and whether they realize it or not.

Yeah people have many different kinds of social anxiety but I know mine was not brought on by being immature. I wish I could say that and that I grew out of it like I've heard other people say. I do really have a panic disorder, if I am in large group settings, my heart races, my palms sweat, the room spins and I feel like either fainting or Just getting the hell out of there even when I use to attend AA meetings, Id be asked to get up and speak and couldn't! eventually I had to be honest and tell them the truth. It doesn't always look obvious that I am experiencing these intense emotions because I look fine. I do think people have had it easier in Life and they don't have issues with Panic disorders and anxiety due to environment and positive parenting. They were never severely bullied (great for them) but they probably have suffered in other ways. Thankfully, the more I educate myself on the topic, I reenforce the thinking that I am healing like I'm rewiring my brain so to speak

Your experiences were definitely not because of immaturity, what you experienced was very real. There's a difference between having a genuine disorder and someone just reacting to things immaturely, I'm glad you're healing though and it definitely takes time.
Thanks for this!
