My "smart"phone has started doing something weird today and I can't understand why
I was trying to open and reply to emails on my phone and it's started literally shutting gmail down when I try opening emails, will literally close it? I don't understand why it's randomly started doing that? I had to wait until I got home before responding to emails I've always had problems with it when I've had more than one email coming through together, opening a email causes it to crash - happens every time but this whole gmail closing itself down thing on my phone is something new ? |

Hey willowtigger,
Do you use the Gmail app, or are you using the browser on your phone? If it's the Gmail app: 1. Go into the Play store 2. Tap your profile pic on the top right 3. 'Manage apps and device' Check to see whether the Gmail app needs updating. its a thing i click on on my phone, it was already installed or whatever when I got the phone, just had to log in to it
so idk why its doing it not sure how to get into its settings (gmail) |

That would be the Gmail app.
Following the instructions I gave to check for updates will help you with this issue.

this is weird: on the play store its saying "install" on the gmail app, as though it isn't even installed ?

Weird, not done anything yet and its not closing gmail any more (touch wood) when i try opening a email
