I just thought I would put something out there and get some advice on some art stuff. I have been doing this series of pieces about victims and I was wondering what all of you have been doing. My series has just began as I only have like 3 done and 2 others started. Just wondering what everyone else who is interested in art is doing. Oh and I've been working with acrylic, I've kind of found I like it more now. Especially after being taught more about it.

Hi, Jennifer!
I am a middle school art teacher, as well as a longterm artist in various media. Your series on victims sounds very interesting. I hope you will share some photos of your work with us in the members' gallery.
I'm currently working on my MA in Weaving and Fiber Arts....most of the themes are reflective of strata of rock formations.

Hey yeah I think I can do even better, I zm going to try and post here as well. In the background I used a water lift off techniqe. I layered yellow, then magenta, then blue. the blue was a mistake I regret. It was very hard to paint over. But this is just one of the examples. I may post more later or put them somewhere.

This series of the series is going to be titled "Who am I?" I will have about a series of 5 just from this still life. I also have 8 other still lifes all ready to go. each with about 5 paintings each. Well this one is 4' by 4' and is on masonite.

hi...

DID.... survior... "artwork"...

I am not artistic... but have always needed to find a way to express my feelings...in a "physical" medium...

My current project... is not made by me... but a search for a wind chime.. to be hung... inside... over my pub table... that over looks the tree... where my squirrels are...

The wood chime... needs to me made of a very rich.. wood... dark... and have tones... deep... light.. and all inbetween... the richness of the wood... represents me... the host... and the tones... inbetween... represent... my different alters... symbolic.. for me... for the wonder and the joy.. of being DID....

My second project..... I am looking for an antique mirror... oval in shape... with rich dark wood...
I then want to take the mirror... to a stained glass place... and have them cut... out all but a rim... about an inch... in depth.... so... there is just a hollow... center...
then... I will take the remaining pieces... and break/cut them... into smaller pieces... forming... like a puzzle... and use.. leading - like in stained glass.. to fit it back into the mirror rim....(it will be a puzzle..trying to fill in gaps..and select the right pieces of mirror)..

The finished piece... represents.. me.... the solid piece... that is the rim... represents,, me the host... and.... the pieces... represent my alters... and the leading.. represents... the co-consiousness.. that has happened for me...

This.. piece... represents... "RECOVERY"... and that will be it's name...because... co-consiousness... is as far as I am going....
though my friends IRL... would never understand... my need to do this...it.. the "doing" is also... an step in recovery...

That sounds very creative to me. It sounds like it will be very beneficial for you, it is very symbolic. As I to have DID I can understand some about your reasonings for wanting to do these pieces. I really especially understand the mirror. I think it is a very interesting idea and I think it is great you are going for it. I wish you luck in your work. Remember art isn't about talent, it's about what's inside and puttig that on paper, whether that is personal, or about morals or anything else in life, it is still art to someone at least, that someone being you. You sound very creative and that in itself is very very artistic in itself. Another thing you can think of is I am sure when your parts (or whatever you prefer to call them) were created through some creative and intelligent process that helped you survive.

I don't consider myself an artist, but I really do a lot of art. I just finished a sketch of a frog. I did not even know I could draw because I usually paint. I think it would be neat if we had a place here for everyone to share there art work. Maybe that fits into the creative link though.
