Some time back Willowtigger called wasps the spawn of Satan. I agreed with her then and still do.

One of the buggers nailed me on my pinkie today. I smeared Benadryl cream on the bite and took a Benadryl pill. Thought I was doing okay, but it's starting to swell more and itch like crazy. I suspect it's time for more Benadryl.

Been thinking of you since I got stung Willow.

Knock on wood I’ve only been stung once, decades ago. I was wearing a bikini and running down the hill to the lake when I stepped on a hollow log that had a nest inside of it. Got me right in the middle of my back. But I don’t know if it was a wasp or a bee, I didn’t ask for an introduction.

Bees die when they sting, they cant pull the sting out without it tearing their body apart, so if it didnt die and leave the sting in you, the pointy bit, then it was a wasp

Oh the bug bite swelling. I was mowing on my lawn tractor a few weeks ago. I saw the bug that bit. By that night my whole lower arm was swollen. A wasp nailed me on the face once when I was opening the gatevto the turnout area my horse was in that got swollen too. That spot became like a pimple when I got sick a few years later. I used black horse drawing salve on it. (Oh that was a real pretty look) My body reacts so bad to all bites including mosquitoes & chiggers. Any antihistimine helps a little but nothing takes the reaction away for days

Eskie, I never found any oral antihistamine that worked for me either. A coworker told me about the Benadryl cream. It is incredibly effective.

Your stung on the face story reminds me of a sting I got years ago. #^:_**$ wasp flew behind my glasses and nailed me on the upper eyelid. My entire face swelled up. My eyes were slits. All you could see of my nose was this little bump in the middle of my face. It was miserable.

Oh your poor face. Wasps come out of nowhere. Have had them inside my house & saw it just before grabbing it on my kitchen sink faucet.

I have been lucky with the OTC Allegra. It still takes the swelling a few days to go down but keeps the itching at a minimum....works for chigger bites too. Those things just make you want to scratch yourself to death & it helps the itch so I can do other things besides scratch. I have a spray can of anti-itch & for burns too I use but not on some places.

Go figure I got a tick bite on my eyebrow a few weeks ago. Thought I had been stabbed by a branch but it was a small seed tick. They itch....got bit by one on my ear & it itched for over a year

ANOTHER ONE OF THE B@STARDS JUST NAILED ME ON MY TEMPLE!

Already slathered ointment on in. Going to put an ice pack on to try and hold the swelling down. It hurts like holy beekeepers!

I hate wasps

I was stung on my lower lip three times. I was mountainbiking, felt something fly in my mouth, spat it out and ended up with a swollen lip. Especially the second time was horrible as it hit the inside ... my gum, the inside of my cheek and the saliva gland under my tongue were swollen. I was drooling for an entire week. The next weeks I had loose shards of tissue in my mouth which caused infections. It was not the happiness time of my life

I had even worse ... one time when riding my bike a wasp hot stuck between my moving legs and my pelvis. It went straight for my most sensitive part

I think it's clear wasps are not my favourite insects but somehow I manage to remain relatively calm. What I did learn from the last time is that keeping it cold helped keep the swelling down ... it is the perfect excuse for eating loads of

I freeze if i get a wasp too close to me

What i have to be careful around are stinging nettles, i react to them. Luckily, they dont fly around looking for someone to attack ....

I make it a thing to do a wasp check every 2-4 days around the house and yard to make sure these little spawns of satan don't call our home, their home. So far so good this season. I have an irrationally awful fear of them. To the point of obsessive panic attacks. But I risk getting stung just to make sure they don't create a spawn point---AKA a nest. I've done lots of yard work so far without getting stung anywhere...hoping it stays that way.

From their perspective I invaded their territory. First one I put my hand on the arm of lawn chair. Beastie and his relatives built a nest under the arm. Second one was apparently hiding in some plant clippings I was going to move.

Basically wasps are evil bleeps

A Hitler and Satan's love child chased Tigger earlier (the wasp!)

I smacked the *expletive* (spelling)

Stripy satan (again, calling the wasp that)

I know it was a stripy satan and not a bee cause it tried to get Tigger, bees do not attack first ask questions later
