It's emotionally that I'm not ready. The cumulative affects of the five in 2004, Irma in 2017, then Ian last year. Riding out Ian last year scared the beekeepers out of me. I'm already on edge about the latest storm. I know what to do. I have things in place to do those things. Still, I'm scared and on edge.
I feel your pain. I am in Florida gulf coast 9 years now, it all still freaks me out :~(

Hurricane season ended. My area was fortunate and dodged anything major. The poor folks in the big bend area got hammered. While I'm grateful my area was safe, I feel badly for the people who got hit.

I watched that storm closley as I have friends still in the areas it was supposed to hit. Actually where I used to live got the most rain from it. I was praying it wouldn't be bad. Never in all my life years there did we have anything like that

This is ridiculous. Last month we had a once in 750 year storm n my apartment leaked. I duct taped it to the point it stopped leaking n never removed the duct tape.

Now we are having another major storm. I felt sure the duct tape would be enough. Haha! My apartment is leaking from the other side of the duct tape.

Just moved my living room furniture. Am exhausted. Laid towels down. Too tired to add more duct tape at the moment.

Hurricane season is over. I have been dealing w so many other issues now this. And I can't go to sleep until it is taped enough to stop the leaking since the storm is supposed to continue until the morning.

I am on oxygen at night and my concentrator is also in the living room. It is too loud for me to use it in the bedroom. So I have to be able to stop the leaking!

Just can't deal w anymore. Can't tape more. So far leaving the towels has been ok. Probably won't sleep tonight.

Have to pray that what was already taped plus towels plus for storm to lessen n that it will be ok.

Duct tape does not stop the damage that is going on begind it to the walls /ceiling. Report the leaking & damage to the apartment owner/manager. Not reporting it causes more damage to the building that needs to be repaired. Duct tape is like putting a bandaid on a spot of cancer. It just covers up the REAL problem that just keeps getting worse & worse unless repaired at the source of the problem

I have reported it. They saw it the last time. Never fixed it.

It's the weekend. Have to wait until Monday to report it again. This time going to go to management also, after filing maintenance request, to find out why nothing has been done.

If you get no results from management I would probably raise it to a community safety agency. Problem with water damage in ceilings & walls is that they can collapse & cause major injury to those occupying the apartments. Then it would cost the owner law suits against them for negligence. Always put your requests in writing & keep a copy.

I was first married & in our first apartment. Found out my oven thermostat didn't regulate the temp of the oven....it got to 650 when I was checking it after I burned dinner in less than 15 minutes. Manager said the owner was busy & would get around to fixing it in the next few weeks. I calmly told him I would be reporting the issue to the fire department the next day. The owner was out first thing the next morning & replaced the oven thermostat. I have found in most cases with many things I have to raise tge threat to way beyond me to get any action. I hope you don't have to do this & get necessary results. Most water leaks like this are related to roofing issues when it is weather related. Firm yet nice usually lets them know they can't ignore your requests because the alternative is usually not a choice they willingly want to deal with

I m in a HUD apartment. So I was thinking my next step would be to call HUD.

I am not the only apartment w leaks so I actually am more concerned about the apartments above me leaking into mine, etc.

This is not a roofing issue. It's coming through the baseboards on the outside wall.

Sounds like the storm strengthened. They are flinging names like cyclone bomb, winter hurricane and not Easter around. Traveling up the eastern coast.

Yea, I had mushrooms growing out of the baseboards of my room over the garage turned out it was a roofing issue around my dormer window in the room & the water ran down the outside wall & came out at the baseboard. Repair people say you can never actually tell where water originates from until the walls are torn apart & the originating spot is located

Now we have "wnter storms" that are dangerous. Case in point:

Some schools closing as forecasters warn about possible tornadoes, hurricane-force winds

Liz, keep safe.
