My interpretation is don’t go looking for or causing problems. Everyone has troubles sometimes, so until a legitimate one comes along, don’t invent them

Sort of like one of my favorite sayings....."don't fix it if it's not broke".
In other words don't mess with things unless they are causing problems in your life. However I do like to think agead if possible to avoid unnecessary problems if possible but that usually doesn't work well because unknown trouble hit out of nowhere at times. There's always been too many troubles in the sentence that my grandma used to say
I think thats why I never learned what it was all about "never trouble trouble until (or unless) trouble troubles you" sometimes she'd say until other times she'd say unless |

Don't go looking for it but if it comes looking for you...then that's the correct time to address it. Whether it'll require negotiation or knuckles will depend on the circumstances.
