As a tradition, I start this thread for the end of the year
I'll start. I'm glad that, even though I struggled a bit to find a job for this school year, then I found it and I like it; it's a good experience and I'm having a good relationship with my students.
I'm glad that the new person taking care of my grandmother at home is a good one and works well, and now my mum and I have more time to spend together since we know grandmum is already well taken care of.
And I'm glad for my health, my house, peace in my country, my family, my friends and all the things that we often take for granted.
What about you?

@BeaFlower I am so happy to hear that you got a job you like. That makes all that studying worthwhile.

You are fortunate to have a caregiver for your grandmum. Then she gets to stay in her home and you and your mum can spend more time together.

I am grateful for this site and all the people I meet on here. It is a great source of support for so many. @CANDC

PS Nice to hear from you.

This has been a year fulled with gratefuls mixed with some aggrevations but gratefuls won hands down. In January my neighbor rescued a black lab from the shelter that was going to be put to sleep the next day. She brought her over at 11pm & now Sophie is a wonderful part of my family. Early Feb I adopted another Tabby cat that my vet was trying to find a home for. Bella is now another wonderful part of my family. Was sick with bronchitis a lot during the year but still managed to clear a huge slope area next to my driveway for the foundation & retaining wall needed for my garage. Huge accomplishment & my farm is looking really nice. Adopted an Aussie Shephard puppy in July. Cote Coyote is now another fur baby member of my family & my wild child who has more energy than he knows what to do with. Still trying to get the real estate issue resolved in Calif but the good thing is that my lawyer upped the priority on resolving it because I can't get the foundation fixed until that issue is resolved so I can get a loan to cover the amount I haven't been able to save for. Had to get a new dishwasher last summer. Installation messed up the drain hose & it did water damage before I realized the problem. They fixed the problem & are going to cover the property damage it caused. Life mixes good with not so good but in the long run, it seems all ends up working out well & having my amazing fur baby family that is young & healthy is the heart of my life

I've had treatment for some health conditions, have been able to visit with family, my sons and my sister are well, I've been able to come here to MSF, and my new friends and old friends here and in real life.

It was an extremely rough year for me. However, despite some continuing challenges, I am glad for the love and support of my dear husband. I am also happy to again live in my own home and that we have the friendship and support of our neighbor. I even enjoy the presence of his little doggie. For the first time in about four years we decorated a Christmas tree with our own ornaments that we accumulated over the past 25+ years. From December 1st we put the little felt ornaments on the advent calendar my mother made me a few years before her passing. We lit our new wood stove and played beautiful Christmas music. Also, for the last month plus I've started to listen to more music again, and dance. My first loves. I've even lost over 7 lbs as a lovely added bonus. Today I took a pleasant walk on a sunny day, saying hello to passersby. Even though I barely speak the local language, there was a faint feeling of belonging here, all the same.

So, there are good things.

Great post. I especially like the From December 1st we put the little felt ornaments on the advent calendar my mother made me a few years before her passing. We lit our new wood stove and played beautiful Christmas music.
part. It just felt Christmas-y and cozy.

I wasn’t sure what to say here. This year was very rough for me too. Losing mum in February just a week and a half before her birthday. Then my cat going blind. Then drastically downsizing very quickly and moving into senior high rise. Then my cat getting very very sick having a blown eye and bleeding.

But, I learned what a lovely family I have. They really came together, we helped each other, I got a sizable inheritance that has both caused complications and created a nest egg. My cat got better. The high rise is an active and friendly place to socialize. And a huge bonus it is so much easier to take care of. I had a wonderful Christmas.

I'm just glad I have my sister. Not seen her in 15 years but we speak every few days. She understands because she was raised in the same problematic household. She also worked for a few years as a nurse in a hospital psych unit. I think that helps again in understanding her l'il brudder.

edit] I did mention earlier that I wasn't in touch much with family but I was referring to not being home for years. I'm near half a continent away without the wallet or courage to manage a comfortable homecoming.
