Usually in the expression, "you hit the mother lode", used in mining, meaning you hit the main vein of gold or whatever ore. Or you found a person who always has dope, or money. Or you found a goodwill store that has tons of gucci bags!

Pancakes sounds like a mother lode i could dig, though!

I have only heard the term once, and that was in the context of a game

I was mineing and when I found the right part of the mine it said congratulations, you've found the mother load of gold!

MD, never heard it used for a flapjack. To me it comes from mining. It means to hit the big time.

I don’t know if I know this expression. If I used it it would be used to express a lot of weight. I’ve put on a mother lode of weight this year lol.

I've heard it from the description of the 49er Flapjacks from the breakfast chain Original Pancake House

The descripton says

"From the famous mother lode country. Strike of the century thin, chewy and gooey."

Those flapjacks are good as hell.

Hope, futility and more hope. Always more hope. Been digging for years...I can sense that lode but it's still eluding me. Need some more geology of the soul courses. More insight always helps in seeing through things better. Right? I hope!
