After seeing some incredible finished projects I decided to try out needle felting. I didn't like it much at first. In part because the directions that came with the kit I bought were horrible. In part because I was trying to rush things. I expected gorgeous finish products that looked like what I saw on line. Instead mine looked like a five year old did them.

Had a talk with myself and told myself to slow down and give myself time to develop my skills. I also bought a book with good, detailed instructions. I finished another one last night. Doesn't look to bad. Am also enjoying it more since I changed my POV to seeing this as a learning experience.

Anyone else here do needle felting?

Nope. Seen it done on PBS and it does look gorgeous but never tried it. Congratulations for realizing you need time and practice. I think a lot of people try something once and if it’s not perfect they quit.

Hmm this makes me want to sign up for the Ukrainian egg dyeing class.

It’s called pysanky. You use hot wax to draw designs on the egg. Then dye it in a color, then use the hot wax again over that color. And you keep going until you have completed your design.

Yeah they are. There’s a class here this month. I’m thinking of taking it.
