Do you know anyone that displayed outstanding character traits?

Do you have a story you can share?

I have a friend who is a total inspiration to all of us who know her. She was in an accident on her farm that required air lift to the hospital. Years of surgeries, loss of all but 1% of sight in one eye they could save. She has the sweetest seeing eye dog. She still raises sheep, still rides her horse, drives her tractor & her gator around the farm. She is now also working with wood & does a most amazing job with power tools & designs. She is a survivor in spite of all she has gone through & she is tge sweetest person ever. Lots more I could add but these are the highlights

I have a friend who despite disabilities, or maybe partly because of, has achieved so much. He spent his working career enabling others with disabilities to realise their ambitions. He volunteered from childhood and continues to this day. Helping others is his nature it seems.

There is so much more too but I don’t want to write anything personally identifiable here.

Not sure if this is what you mean and I sure don't know him personally, but Jimmy Carter always struck me as having outstanding character. He's done so much for others. Look at the work he's done for Habitat.

I know a man who lost a child. One of his employees was operating the equipment in the accident. This man not only didn’t fire the employee he gave him paid time off. He said , “ It was an accident and we’re all hurting and mourning. My wife and I won’t put this additional hardship on their family “

I couldn’t imagine.

I’m amazed by people who overcome physical adversity and remain positive

I really struggle with remaining positive but I know I’ve been gifted with good health

And to take that to the next level to coach and inspire others. I wish I could tap into that mentality

Good topic....

My high school biology teacher took a chance on me. I needed credit for his class to graduate and was failing miserably due to my own stupid decisions. Skipping school, not doing homework, the whole routine.

One day after class he had a talk with me and told me if I promised to not miss any more classes and at least got a D on the final exam, he'd give me credit. Remember, even if I aced everything from that point on I'd still have failed with flying colors.

Well, I attended and studied and actually got a C on the final and that's what he gave me for a final grade. He stuck his neck out for me when he clearly didn't have to.

It gets better. I still see him around town from time-to-time and we say "Hello" and chat for a few minutes. About two months ago, my wife and I went to a local restaurant and saw him there. We hugged and chatted for a minute. After my wife and I got our table I asked the server to bring him a drink of whatever he and his lady friend were having. We left before they did. He stopped me and thanked me for the drink. I gladly told him I'd been waiting 37 years to do that. He loved it.

Give yourself some credit too. You rose to the occasion. The ability to feel and extend appreciation says something too.

I would have to say my mom - I'm a big fan!

She has always been of strong character and strong willed. She is a proud independent woman who really went after her dreams, and has always been my biggest supporter - I think she is amazing!

My entire family on my moms side. My aunts, uncles, cousins they are all very accepting of me. And my sister and her family of course. And my mom. She does everything to fight for me.

My therapist had some kind of meeting right after I came out and she used my family as an example as the proper way to respond when your family member comes out.
