My concession to hurricane prep was to take down my bird feeders and set my orchids in hanging baskets on the ground. |

Glad for that and happy to see this post. Was hearing some alarming things on the news about severity and wanted to make sure you weren't somehow stuck in a bad place.

Quote:
"The Waffle House Index is a metric named after the ubiquitous Southern US restaurant chain Waffle House known for its 24-hour, 365-day service. Since this restaurant always remains open, it has given rise to an informal but useful metric to determine the severity of a storm and the likely scale of assistance required for disaster recovery.[1][2] It was coined by former administrator Craig Fugate of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).[3] The metric is unofficially[1][4] used by FEMA to inform disaster response.[5][6]" I like folk culture oddities like this. I'm still curious so now I have to go read up on the chain. Maybe check out their menu! |

I'm okay. My area got a lot of flooding from storm surge, but I am a good distance from the coast. Add to that my property is on a ridge. I joke that if my place floods the entire state will be under water.

Tennessee is far from the coast, but it got a huge flooding problem. Anyway, glad you're okay!

Yep, and the storm passed directly over those flooded areas
