Glad for that and happy to see this post. Was hearing some alarming things on the news about severity and wanted to make sure you weren't somehow stuck in a bad place.

"The Waffle House Index is a metric named after the ubiquitous Southern US restaurant chain Waffle House known for its 24-hour, 365-day service. Since this restaurant always remains open, it has given rise to an informal but useful metric to determine the severity of a storm and the likely scale of assistance required for disaster recovery.[1][2] It was coined by former administrator Craig Fugate of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).[3] The metric is unofficially[1][4] used by FEMA to inform disaster response.[5][6]" I like folk culture oddities like this. I'm still curious so now I have to go read up on the chain. Maybe check out their menu! |

I'm okay. My area got a lot of flooding from storm surge, but I am a good distance from the coast. Add to that my property is on a ridge. I joke that if my place floods the entire state will be under water.

Tennessee is far from the coast, but it got a huge flooding problem. Anyway, glad you're okay!

Yep, and the storm passed directly over those flooded areas

Flooding in some of those inland areas was because of dam failures also

The flooding & the power in it is scary to just wash away bridges & houses & whole towns.
Our Ky River flooded a few years ago. I walked down to see just how bad it was as it was only a few feet below the road when flooded. It was devistating but nothing like if a dam had failed __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck. We went everywhere together like this. I saw video of the wider damage for the first time this evening. People and communities do recover from this stuff but man...when viewing the immediate aftermath it's hard to see how. It takes a while but it gets done. You can still see wreckage from Katrina on Google streetview. Heartening are the before and after photos from Japan's tidal wave of 2011. Recovery will come.
