If this bombs- so be it.....
I hope its not too long

Ok, first let me be clear: This is not my idea it came from my favorite podcast (not sure I can name it but for sure it's for MA only).

The idea is to share petty, annoying, "first world problems"
for fun and satire but also to cleanse us-and make room for the next irritating things!(LOL)

It doesnt matter if you are a hypocrite- we all are!

I guess the idea is to pretend you are the boss of the world and share what irks you, hopefully its funny as in laughing WITH the poster not AT the poster.

What this is not:
A place to dig up a previous issue with another member
"calling out" someone or using this to complain about another member
OR insulting anyone.

And lets say someone has an issue and you think"gee I do that".
Do not engage with the post as if it's about you like I said We are all hypocrites !

I'll post a longer one but here's an example :

Mail. I'm over it. It's not environmental choice even though it would help- I don't want paper! I dont want any ads, political mail, circulars, ads for siding-NADA!
If you cant email me, or text me (call me too)!
- AND the USPS in my town is notoriously terrible.
I am over it.

(the hypocritical part : I love actual newspapers! Love reading them and having coffee so def pot calling the kettle black)

I’d rather get mail than endless calls, texts and emails about voting or donating to candidates.

Smart phones. I hate when people are sucked into what's happening on a screen than what's going on around them, and how easily access to news, "twisted truth" news, downright fake news, and straight up conspiracy theories are to everyone. Or the obsession with keeping up a front for social media. And certain apps taking advantage of people (like when they put kids in a place they can easily spend their parents money with a push of a button or with the spotify artist rip off situation).

The hypocrisy: I have a smart phone, and I certainly end up using it more than I'd like. I even use spotify as one of my music app rotations, which I hate myself for, but it is one of the more convenient apps for music (I don't pay for it though, so at least I feel better they're taking another companies money for ads instead of mine).

I hear you. But… Smart phones are smart if they are used smartly. Lol Pretty much like everything else. My life would be very limiting without a smart phone. In so many ways. Too lazy to list.

Conspiracy junky look up their fake conspiracy news on tv and computers, don’t even use smart phones.

I’d say I am over social media. What a dark place t can be at times, ruining people’s lives

@sarahsweets great to see you back on the forum! It's been ages since I've seen you on here!!! I have no "first world problems" to share - I only have BIG problems, LOL. I hope all is well with you.

I am over it: social media.

The hypocrisy: I refuse to delete my Facebook account, and I am psychologically attached to it and Instagram in some strange way.

Have you invested time in tweaking your settings to have all promotional emails bypass your main Inbox? I use GMAIL and so not know how other webmail providers set it up but am sure they have competitive offerings. I very rarely get a spam email: maybe once a month, and then I categorize it as spam and emails from that sender get blocked, plus the AI (called spam classifier: that algorithm that categorizes incoming email into spam and legit) has learned something from my pointing to it that it missed a spam email.

Calls: have been on a Do Not Call list for years. Plus, Verizon must be doing something to block or at least flag potential spam calls. It is not perfect and sometimes I call back to verify. Usually it is correct but on Monday an advice nurse called me to check on me as I was having a short lasting reaction to Prevnar and her line was miscategorized as potential spam. I called back and later added her number to my contacts which will prevent blocking in the future as having a number in one's contacts means it is legit.

With texts, sometimes they come through but mostly after you send STOP in response they won't persist.

Some years ago I read that the Do Not Call registry has been the most successful consumer program of the Federal Trade Commission (the FTC). I do not know if that has changed, but all of the above methods, taken as a whole, work for me and most annoyrances do come via USPS as Sarah has complained about. I do not know what to do about USPS junk.
