Thanks Possum.

I am waiting for the gabepentin to kick in so I can get the cats in carriers. Then everything goes in the truck and we are gone.

Lizard lady. Thank you. You are probably on your way or at where you were going if you managed to avoid all of the congestion. I have to admit the anxiety really notched up for me yesterday. Am taking more seroquel to keep it at a bearable level. I wish it was all over and yes, I wish it would go away. Hope everything works out well for you.

It was about noon when I left yesterday. Some of the drive was a little spooky due to wind. Hazel, cats and I got here safe.

One of my neighbors, who evacuated ahead of me texted to tell me there was a tornado in the area around our houses. Talk about feeling helpless!

Milton was headed straight for my place, but made a small jog south of me. Same neighbor who told me about the tornado called me this afternoon. They'd gone check their property and looked my place over too. House and barn were okay. A huge tree branch fell on my storage shed and flattened it. I'll sort that out when I get home.

Power is out in most of my county. No idea when it will come back on. I'm staying with my friend until Saturday. We are cleaning up storm debris here. I know my house is okay. Have no interest in returning to a house with no power or water. Am exhausted by the stress and clean up here. I am grateful my house is okay. There are lots of folks who lost everything.

Thank you to everyone for your support.

So glad your house is ok. A storage shed is a loss but a bearable one. Hope you get power soon.

That's how I feel too Nammu. The shed can be replaced. It was full of tools, stuff meant for donation and my tractor. Neighbor said the tractor is okay. There wasn't anything of sentimental value in it.

I so grateful that the house and its contents are intact. Limited space in the truck limited what I could take with me. Hazel, the cats and I plus some clothes and my meds filled the cab to bursting. I would have lost all the stuff with emotional value.

Not to sound like a pessimist, but I have low hopes of the power coming on any time soon based on experience. Most of my county is without power. Areas with more population get priority. Heck,, there we're 3 MILLION people without power. Those of us in the boonies know we are going to be last.

I am staying with my friend until Saturday. Now that I know my house is okay the pressure to go check on it is gone. He can use my help with clean up here.

Staying an extra day also mean an extra day with electricity and water. Anticipating the power might be out for awhile I checked on line last night. There are a few, very few, hotel rooms available. I'll get a room for a few days if the power stays out.

I said this before and will keep saying it. I am so grateful to have gotten through with so little damage. So many others lost everything, including their lives. Impact on me seems so minimal in comparison.

Once more, thank you to everyone for your support.

So pleased to know you and your furbabies are okay Liz. After all the predictions it seems like Helene did more damage than Milton thanks goodness.

Thanks Possum.

I think Helene did more damage because of the track it took over multiple states. In comparison Milton "just" plowed across Florida. My access to news has been limited, but it seems the area where Milton made landfall were hit hard. Milton came ashore very close to where Ian hit a couple of years ago. Those folks were still recovering from Ian.

I am still at my friend's house. Leaving for home tomorrow. Since the neighbors gave me an update I don't see a reason to hurry home. Power company finally has an estimate when power will be restored - midnight Thursday. Not excited to rush home to no power and no wayer.

I don't blame you. When we had that major earthquake here in 2010, we lost power for six days. Our water was also intermittent. It was no fun.

Although we don't talk the way we used to or as often, I still thought about you with these back to back storms. Nature is cruel.

We are still evacuated. Still no power/water at home. My friend persuaded me to stay here rather than go home because of that.

Wise choice. It is miserable to deal with no electric & no water unless you absolutely have to
