I heard on CNN this is the big one and my aunt and uncle who are about an hour outside of Orlando are told to evacuate if they live in mobile homes.

So I was just wondering about Disney.

MD, one recommendation for people is to evacuate to the Disney/Universal hotels because they are strongly built.

Disney proper might sustain some damage, but the storm is supposed to be down to a cat 2 when it gets that far across the state. Many/most of us in mobile homes/manufactured housing have been ordered to evacuate.

Have to say this thread title should definitely be used for a short story! Perhaps some type of teen disaster fiction. Love it!!

"Condominium" was a movie of the week based on a book by John D MacDonald, author of the Travis McGee mystery series ("The bright blue goodbye" etc).

The movie unfortunately isnt around anymore, but the book was a scare your pants off read, about a hurricane heading towards a shoddily built Florida condo. Kind of the opposite of A Tree Grows In Brooklyn!

Shhhhhh!!! Censorship at play here. They don't want people watching it and it MOST DEFINITELY didn't start right up on youtube

"They thought they were buying Paradise. What they got was a killer hurricane!"

MD, I found this news report about Disney after the storm. Seems like no significant damage to buildings and rides. Crews spent Thursday cleaning up and the park reopened Friday.

Personally I believe it sucks that employees had to show up to clean up a fantasy land while not being able to take care of real world damage at home.

Edit to add - I some edjit complaining the park was closed on Thursday. I understand that you came to Florida on vacation in order to visit the Mouse. It would be disappointing to not be able to visit the park. But shut your yap! While your vacation didn't turn out the way you planned there are thousands who lost EVERYTHING!!!!

Knowing full well no one HAS to go there... clean up roads, hospital grounds, grocery stores, etc.? Sure. Cinderella's castle? Let me take care of the tree in my house first before worrying about a place many people only think they want to go to.
