I'm sure some of you have seen meet the parents where "Jinx" the cat uses the toilet or all of the videos of cats using toilets.
A few months ago I decided that I have had it with cleaning the litter box. I bought this system called the "litter quitter" on ebay. It's a litter box that looks like a toilet bowl, and slowly you raise it up to the level of the toilet and then place it over the toilet. once you have them up on the toilet it is time to replace the litter receptical with bigger and bigger holes. I am on the 2nd step. I tried it previously with my big cat... but the first time she used it she stuck her back paw through the hole and got it all wet. She refused to use the toilet and started pooping on the ground. I went back to the step without the hole on the toilet for 2 months and now it's back to the 1st hole. She pooped on the floor the first time, but now she's consistently going on the toilet and making it in the hole! My kitten has had no problems. I think I will wait another week or two before I move on to the next hole, I will be so excited once I am able to stop buying litter and then are using just the toilet. They suggest NOT teaching your cat to flush the toilet because they like to watch the water swirl down the toilet, and once they make the connection that they can make it do that on thier own they will do it constantly! Anyone else tried or trying this? I had to share how pleased I am that they are using the toilet! |

Spazz <<<< ,, My Junior Kitty use to join me in the morning in bathroom .... And while I sat ,, he squatted over bath tub drain and went . LOL .
So I thought about doing what you have done >>> but I was going to put a string on flush handle and a styrofoam ball connected to it so he would learn to flush ... But I have idiot cat >>> He thought all grates in floor were pee holes >> Good thing I use woodstove in winter to heat . So I was able to duct tape all floor vents in house .>>> . LOL. |

my cat has a litter box in every room. Hes a great cat. But has a few issues with this litter box thing. When he was a baby , someone threw him out a car window, I found him and took him in and of course took him to the vets. Best cat I ever had, But has a hard time seeing. And a few issues.
So the potty thing would never happen. I just want him to find the litter box. But i love the cat....... |

I asked Tyger if he wanted to learn to use the toilet and he looked at me as if I was nuts. I have to keep the lid of the toilet down or he will drink out of it. LOL I guess he thinks he's a dog and is supposed to drink out of the toilet.

Hey Spaz, I have heard of cats doing their jobs in the toilet. Never heard of the invention you are talking about, but so happy for you not to have to clean the litter box! Hope your cats graduate to the biggest hole with no problem LOL

wow! I give you kudos, I would never want my cat to use my toilet, I would go in there and find a "tootsie roll" in the toilet I would go straight to the cat!

i have 3 cats. i'd love it if they would do it, too. but, the only problem is that one of my cats is 13 years old and has arthritis. she has a bit of trouble with jumping, and i don't want to make it any worse. but, hey, that is so cool.
LOL, wmd on the vent holes! good question, perna! lol. |

Well, I have two toilets now... thankfully! Although it seemed my youngest LOVED to use the toilet JUST before I would... so I'd have to wait! I'd rather wait to pee then have a kitty pee/poop accident. My youngest ALSO just learned how to open doors... yay?

"Litter Quitter" is the official product. Look for it on ebay, it's much cheaper there.

I'm not sure about the taking turns thing...mine tend to work it out... but again I just have two. My little one also likes to make big stinky ones whenever I have company.
My big cat almost escaped this evening, she HATES being outdoors but when I opened the door this evening she just SHOT out... I was so worried I was going to loose her I went after her, but something spooked her and she darted back into the apartment... dumb thing, really got my heart going reminds me that I do care for them alot. Anyone else have a cat who can open doors? My little one is quite good at it, the big one is either too stupid/lazy to do it so she just whines at the door. |
