Hi, my first myth-busting post got some good responses, thought I would add a few more , dont be shy, jump right in..

Myth: Irradiated Foods are Dangerous

Fact: the irridiation process has been tested by a number of government and private agencies and found to be perfectly safe. The process subjects food to a low level of radiation effectively killing all bacteria and virus contaminents, fresh fruits and vegetables treated this way remain fresh for weeks not days, meat is good for months without freezing. As a side benefit the process effectively kills all salmonella, and would prevent thousands of illness and cases of food poisoning. Unfortunatly a few ill-informed activists playing on the public's natural fear of three mile island type incidents have stopped this from becoming common. Its a shame, our failure to adopt this practice has cost the american consumer billons of dollars in wasted food, and fills our land fills with more and more trash.

Myth: If you do not exercise your muscle becomes fat

Fact: Fat and muscle are chemically different and one cannot become the other, however if you stop working out, your metabolism slows down and excess fat will accumulate over top of your existing muscle and your muscles will also shrink, hence the misconception that muscle becomes fat.

Myth: Diamonds are a wonderful way to show love, and a great investment

Fact: The money from Diamonds, fills the wallets of a crooked cartel, perpetuates strife and bloodshed in Africa, and actually depreciates in value. The DeBoers cartel manipulates the supply of these rocks, which in thier native countries are as common as gravel. Part of the sale of these things also buys weapons, and man power for African Warlords who recruit and arm children, think twice about that trip to the Jewlery store and pick up a copy of the movie Blood Diamond, with Leonardo Dicapprio, ifs based on a true story. Also 20/20's John Stossel conducted and experiment, borrowed several high price peices of jewlry took them to several appraisers and found them to far less valuble than their selling price. Men, its not worth it , find a better more creative way to show love for someone.
