Yes, definitely a North East "cuisine". My daughter loves the Butterscotch Krimpets, my son loves the Peanut Butter cakes, and my husband...he just loves 'em all!!!

ew - I grew up in Philly and for about 2 years, I lived about a mile away from the Tastykake factory. I do NOT love Tastykakes - they are horrible for you! lol

It's funny that some people have never heard of them.... only because I live in Philadelphia and that's where TastyKakes are made-- so you literally cannot go into any store or gas station and not find tons of TastyKakes. The variety is amazing, lol. Also, they are this season's sponsor of my favorite team and sport-- the Philadelphia Flyers!!! (hockey) I love the chocolate ones with the peanut butter inside.

I have only ever had them once, when I visited Phila., have never seen them before or since. I do remember they were insanely tasty, however.
In fact, one of my professors (I was in college at the time) was from Philly and when I told him I was going there, he gave me a wad of cash and told me to bring him back Tastykakes! LOL

The only way I know about TastyKakes is when I was growing up one of the pastors at my church was from PA and when he would go back home for visits he would take an empty suitcase and bring it back filled up with TastyKakes.
