I happen to notice there were a lot of folks here who still have and play PS1 games. I wanted to tell all of you out there about one of my favorite PS1 games.

Rogue Trip, Vacation 2012

This game is a tongue and cheek look at the "Road Warrior" type films and Twisted Metal and is simply a lot fun to play.

The premise: The year is 2012, civilization has effectively collapsed, the opening scene shows the US becoming a desolate wasteland, the heavy narration talks about pollution, radiation, and despair, suddenly the narrator is interrupted by a loudly dressed obnoxious TV announcer selling vacations, along with the usual cheesy commercial bumper music. The vacations are provided by an evil alien entity called "Big Daddy" who is also taken over the world itself. Unfortunately, only the few remainging wealthy people can afford these trips. As the announcer is about to give out the toll free number, he in turn is interrupted by a guy that looks like he should be fronting Judas Priest. The Amalgamated Association of Auto-Mercenaries (AAA) has hacked into the broadcast and is advertising alternative vacations for everybody else. Big Daddy has outlawed this so the Auto-Mercs take their tourists in heavily armed attack vehicles to the vacation sites across the US. The sites themselves are distorted US cities Exlax ( LA-X) The Maw (Washington DC) Nuke-York etc. You assume the role of one the Auto-Mercs

The Game Play: The game is basically auto-combat with a twist, tourists. Once you pick a character and you seek out the "tourist" pick them up and take them to scenic areas called "Photo-Ops" they take pics and you make money. The only problem is that you have 6 other Automercs out to do the same thing so all out mayhem ensues. Once all the sights have been used up, then it becomes a total fragfest with the last car standing. Various weapons are scattered about the levels for you to acquire and use, they are a variety of missiles (Including a cruise missile that you pilot when firing) a keg explosive, and device that forcibly ejects the tourist from the opposing vehicles, and my favorite a meteor shower, which rains down meteors on your enemies. The weapons can be upgraded for cash at certain stations, greater range or damage. In addition each Merc has a secret weapon unique to their vehicle. The playable automercs are:

Ratman: a middle age superhero wannabe, he drives a batmobile-like car, its secret weapon is set of circular saw blades that are used in close combat

Sister Mary Lascivious: she is Nun whose religion is S&M and she drives an armored school bus, her secret weapon is a halo like device that launches with an angelic chorus and releases cluster bombs on the enemy.

Richard **** Biggs: a demented butcher with a Jason Vorhees type mask. He drives something that resembles the Oscar Meier Weinermoble, His secret weapon is a crane that wields the hotdog part like a giant club

Agent Orange, A guy who was exposed too many chemicals and wears a hazmat suit. His vehicle is tank like machine, the special weapon: cluster rockets

Daisy June McCoy she is somewhat modeled after Daisy Duke from the Dukes of Hazard show. She drives something of a cross between a swamp boat and a monster truck: Her special weapon is the “Chickin Lickn, this attack unleashes a flock of angry chickens on the opponent (it’s hilarious)

Pyro: A demented robot with a Darth-Vader like voice, he drives a tanker truck, his special weapon is a high powered flame thrower activated by blowing the horn.

Elvis D. Kang a slovenly, overweight Elvis impersonator, he drives a 57 caddy, his special weapon is a Glitter Rocket

Schiz o manic, an escaped mental patient, he drives an ambulance like the one in the Ghostbusters movie, due to the fact he is still in his straight jacket he drives with his feet, His weapon the shock treatment is a burst of lightning.

Bunny: former model, she drives a pink early eighties camaro her special weapon is Poodle Power, it unleashes a pack of pissed-off poodles( also funny)

Snake eye Shaddock, a cyborg, with a Clint Eastwood persona, drives an armored frame rail buggy His special weapon is a giant exploding arrow.

Vermin, a large former wrestler, drives a Morris Minor his disrupto beam immobilizes his opponents.

The graphics are among the best on PS1, with smooth environments, detailed car models and a decent frame rate. Explosions are handled nicely too. The soundtrack is an eclectic mix of punk, ska, rap, disco and jazz the Mighty Bostones’s Rascal King is featured on the first level. As a bonus the game disc will play the music in any regular CD player.

Overall this is one of my PS1 fav’s its just a ton of fun with a lot of twisted humor, if you ever see this at a yard sale, or on EBay, snag it!!

Below is the into clip and some of the first level
