Around 6:30pm last night we had a bad storm go thru. The winds got horrible. And I took pictures and video of the sky. There was a funnel cloud forming just west of our house. It moved over our barn and headed NE towards my nieces house. Appearently it didnt become a full tornado, but the winds did break some electric poles leaving the lines in tact over by her house. And also blew a barn down. Last night around 11pm the electricity went off here. The power company de energized the area so they could move lines over to new poles. So power was off for 4 hrs altogether. Pretty scarey stuff.

Here are some pics. My video of the rain coming down sideways is not loading up right for me . So I dont think I will be able to put a link to that here. If I figure something out I will post it.

WOW! I would be so scared! I lived through California earthquakes, but I don't think I could do tornadoes or anything of the sorts!

Is you family ok?

Only~

Yes we are fine.. like I said it didnt turn into a tornado.. just a funnel cloud( they do not touch the ground like a tornado does) That would have been worse if it was a tornado.

This is one reason I try not to complain about snow. I'd much rather have snow than a tornado. At least you can prepare for a snowstorm.. but a tornado.. there is only so much you can do. And you just never know if your going to lose anything with it.

Tainted Goth,

I don't recommend tornado alley. I was transferred here, and then was laid off after being with my employer for 17 years. It was an age discrimination situation, but here I sit. Husband doesn't want to move.

You must have gotten the storms that ran through here Thursday night. Luckily for me the major storms stayed south of us but we got a lot of rain and some places are still flooded due to all the rain we've been getting.

(((((((Sweet))))))))

Some scary photos to see. I've seen skys like that many times before. As weather builds in the gulf and heads north towards us. I watch and wait to see that fist coming out of the clouds. Luckily, most of the time they remain out over the water as water spouts. I guess in some way were lucky to have so many marshes and bayous surrounding us.

I'm happy you made it through safely. Just watch those candles you light to guide your way when the electric goes out.

love ya,
chal

I read somebodys post about tornados last week and ended up having a really realistic dream about my city being wiped out by like 200 tornados and i was trying to hide in my closet under some blankets lol. it was a very strange dream. i have only ever seen funnel clouds, not a full tornado, but there have been a few tornados in this area before.
