Leaving the house is difficult enough, but this morning after bringing my son to school I noticed this "stump" next to the stairs. It turned out to be the biggest snapping turtle I have ever seen! I don't know where the stupid thing came from, the nearest water source is three blocks away. He's made himself quite comfortable under the hose spool.

So tell me, how could such a HUGE turtle, make it 4 blocks from the river? And what makes my front yard so appealing, and how long has he been here?

The turtle is on HER way to a pot. Hubby has to check out the rock garden for eggs. I'm begining to get a complex, first a buck puts his head down and charges the van, then I run into a rabbid skunk, now a turtle has decided to nest in my front yard. I live IN TOWN.

It must be a day for snapping turtles. I had one on the road in front of the shop. Moved him off the road some idiot would hit him for the fun of it. Not more than two seconds later the little fella was back out there. One of my techs put him back in the grass.

I've heard that. And it's not like I'm a city girl, born and raised in the country, but this was one big turtle. I was SURE that my daughter would leave the house, and see the stupid thing and poke at it with her toe in flip flops.
