My thoughts for the day...
Some would say that a woman's best friend is a shopping mall. At times I might agree, but really, I'd rather say that a woman's best friend is a dog. A relationship with a dog is unconditional. No matter what I do, how my mood is, a dog is always there for friendship and support. A dog won't look at if I harm myself. All a dog really cares about is happiness. A dog won't pass judgement or be critical. A dog just wants love and to be loved. With a dog, nobody is ever alone. People set limits on each other and judge behaviors. No one is ever "FOR ME". There are always conditions. If I don't meet those expectations, I become alone. At least if I had a dog, a dog would still believe in me. A dog will still accept me. After being alone so long if someone wants to be a friend again, I wonder what the motivation is--why should I trust that person again? How do I know if something is for real? A dog never leaves and is always there, no matter what. The only bad part about a dog is that a dog can't talk to me when I want to talk. |

they can't talk, but they do communicate. and they are the best listeners in the world. you can pour your heart out to your dog and they will listen, and comfort you. they won't rush you or tell you they can't take anymore of your whining. it is the purest form of unconditional love you will ever recieve.
of course your friends and family don't pee on your carpet ![]() lost

I have a dog who is a total wiry freak! LOL. He has a personality of his own and is sometimes a real pain in the butt. But he does show genuine love and affection for me....."mommy". He is accepted as part of the family and he even has a grandma (my mom) who occasionally babysits.
My horse (I had her for 2 years from the time I was 7) was one of the most important people in my life. She helped shape me into the person I have become. I remember the countless times sitting on a bale of hay under the barn during my teenage years when things did not go my way. She would just stand there kinda not knowing what to do except give me a nudge every now and then. Humans are animals too and sometimes we need them but, it sure is nice to have that "unconditional pet love" at the end of the day.

My kitty I've been with since a few days after she was born, I'd check on her often (to the point were the mom moved her from mom's clost to the bathroom closet) when she came out ...too her mother's displeasure, kept trying to bring her back to the closet
![]() She helps bring me up when I'm down, in her own special way, by being humorous (for example, out of nowhere just LEAPING over the couch and practicly aran across the wall...for no paticular reason) or by just being by my side, or giving me a distraction because she is always up for a game of kitty-fetch with her tinfoil ball. ![]() |
