for the past year or so I have noticed these tiny little silver bugs that appear to glide across the floor of our living room and bathroom. Me and my broter were both clearing a messy corner of our living room when we discovered loads! Ive just had a google moment and found out that we have a sliverfish infestation! Has anyone ever had a problem with them, and how did they get rid of them? I feel a bit disgusted my them I have silverfish!!

here is something I found.

Home made jar trap
A very simple trap can be made by taking some canning jars, scrubbing them absolutely clean and then covering the outside with masking tape to make them easy to climb. These traps are then placed out in areas of infestation. The bugs will climb up and fall into the jars and then will not be able to climb the smooth interior walls to escape. Moist cotton or starchy foods work as bait but are not needed.

Boric acid is cheap & it lasts as long as it does not get damp. It is
a powder that can be poured into cracks, dusted under sinks, and blown
under the stove & refrigerator. You can buy it at most hardware
stores. Just buy a plastic picnic ketchup/mustard bottle with a
pointed top that closes. This works best for getting it into the
tight places that it needs to go. If the powder gets damp, just
reapply. It will take a few weeks for all of the bugs to die, but you
probably won't see them again. The powder sticks to their legs and
then they drag it back into their nests where it kills others as well.

I hate hate hate hate hate them. We had them when we lived at the beach. They love moisture and eat anything, including glue. I found this website for you: http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/home...lverfish-oct01 for a eco friendly solution. (Did I mention I hate them?)

No advice on how to get rid of them, but you have my sympathies. I find them very yucky. If you have any books lying around you might want to check the bindings - I seem to remember silverfish love books.

Good luck on getting rid of them.

I actually thought they were the cutest bug i had ever seen! I saw them rarely in the house, but when i did they were in our old aging bathroom. There was a hole in the floor, so im sure some rotting was going on. Ever since my dad re-done the bathroom i have never seen them again. So i think i would hate them if i had a problem with them, but for some strange reason growing up i thought they were pretty neat! lol im sure some of you are like, oh my shes crazy! lol
