Dogs are like 2 year olds! Actually, at best they understand as much as a two year old does.

But hey, at least they don't talk back! Dogs Suck ! (well ok.. maybe some of them do hehe)

(btw, I'm a dog person mostly, but I like cats too.)

Hahahaha! Oh I feel ya!

I ended up with this "cute" hound dog off the side of the road (big heart). I've spent over $300.00 just to try to get him to stop his compulsive barking!!!!! It's CRAZY

Had I to do it over again.... two cats and a litter box for sure! LOL

But, I will say he is a great guard dog and very protective of me and his territory. I suppose there is a reason he's here!

Hey - at least you got a taste of dog parenting instead of going out and getting one then having to give it up!!!!!!

I totally feel ya.

Yeah, I am a cat person too. The last dog I had ate my blender. Yeah, ate my blender. Not to mention tried to eat my poor cat. I have had one dog in my life time that was my absolute best friend. No dog will ever compare to him because he was perfect. I will never have another dog.

Maybe that's why hubby gets me a new puppy everytime I mention that I want a baby! Dog are definately more high maintenance than cats, they need to be entertained, bathed, and walked.

On the other hand, my cats are constantly knocking things off high shelves to get the dogs in trouble (they knock it down and the puppy runs off with it to chew it up). When I use the electric can opener, they believe the kitchen is theirs no matter what I'm doing. Until I broke them of the habbit, when I'd take a bowl out of the cupboard to mix something up, if I didn't turn it upside down, they'd jump in the bowl, very thankful for this cute new bed. They only want attention when you're busy or asleep.

Dogs take a little getting used to. We have two, Daisy and Heidi.

I never had a dog until I was 51. We had cats when I was growing up. It was quite an adjustment, but I found it to be well worth it.

Dogs are like 2-year-olds in many ways, but you get a lot of love in return. Train them, teach them, love them. It is worth it.

Dogs really are wonderful, and I've always had a dog for many years, rescuing many and paying expensive vet bills to get them healthy, then finding them homes.
I am now dog-free, after the last one which I had had for 8 years, but when I moved to this new residence, she got it into her head to be an escape artist, despite fenced yard. I spent hundreds on escape prevention, including the shock collar/electric fence, but she still braved it and escaped daily. I came home from work each day feeling the anxiety mounting, wondering where i would have to go to rescue her, since I had an ID collar on her and people would call me from far away. Reluctantly, I ran an ad to find her another home, as I wasn't able to deal with it after 1.5 years of this. She is now on a huge farm in the country, and the new owners have assured me she is happy.
I now just have three cats, who are free to go roam in the woods and then come inside as they wish, asking nothing of me except pettings and food. Sometimes they sleep with me if they wish. Cats are so much easier!
Today I babysat with my uncle's Australian Shepherd while they and the company with me took a boat ride. The dog fretted the whole time they were gone, pacing and clawing at the screen doors. Dogs are much more demanding than cats, and actually much more like having a child.
Though I love dogs, I've come to the conclusion I will not have another since they demand so much.

I forgot to mention that personally I love cats and dogs. I have six of each, plus two horses and two steers.
