Going out to the front yard a few minutes ago, a beautiful male boxer was wandering around there. He had a collar on, but no id. He came to me happily, such a sweet dog! Very big and threatening looking, but such a sweetie! I asked the neighbors who were outside and they said he was wandering around but they had no place to put him. I put him in my fenced back yard. My golden pup, Fozzie, was very upset at his presence, so I put Fozzie inside. I then drove around the block, seeing a woman outside, looking disturbed, I stopped and asked if she had lost her dog. She said, "Yes," and that her house had been broken into last night and the police were on their way. I told her I had her dog, and she will come as soon as she can.
I live in a marginal neighborhood, where though there are many longterm residents, and even elderly, there are also a lot of transients. I have been rather complacent about locking my doors. This is a wakeup call, and I'll secure things better in the future.

hon never leave your doors unlocked. not that it stops them but it can slow them a bit. make sure they are extra secure. my house was broken into a few weeks ago. they left everything except one handgun. thank goodness.

Thanks, Sabby,
The owner just came and got her doggie, named "Bonzai!" She said that her husband was asleep on the sofa and the burglars came right in, stealing her laptop computer!
I'm locking up from now on.

Thanks, Violet, Sabby, and Bebop!
At the very moment I was putting the boxer in my back yard, a man was driving around looking for his female black Lab, which he said had escaped, and was in heat. The boxer boy was not neutered, and he was frantic! Glad I was able to retain him in my yard till the owners came.
Thanks again for the responses!
Oh, and I'll lock my doors from now on!
Love
Patty

Good for you for taking the dog in - glad you found the owner. It's nice when there's a happy ending.
