and I'm taking it personally :-)

I've asked for a new laptop for my birthday but that's not until the end of October. DH turns 65 this Saturday and his SS payments begin next month which will help us enormously; he's been retired since March 2006 (me, July 2005) and we've been making it okay but the latest stock market downturns have made it too hard to wait until he's fully vested in SS at 66. It's like $20,000 a year and we kind of need that now :-)

So, I have to put up with this computer whose "mouse" button doesn't work; luckily it has two kinds of mouse buttons, I'm just not use to using the other one so it's annoying and I keep using the opposite mouse mover option so it's difficult to hold down the one button and highlight.

I want to consolidate my really old desktop (7-8 years) and this laptop (only 5 yearsish) onto the laptop and give the desktop away. That's going to take some time as all my good old stuff from before I moved, retired, etc. is stored on the desktop. I guess it's like stuff in a closet, if you haven't seen it in that long. . .

It's helping keep me off the computer as much though since it's not as "easy" to use :-)

(((((Perna))))) have you tried plugging in a regular mouse or a full sized keyboard to help you deal with the one you have?

I think my computer's too old/doesn't have the keyboard plug-inability but maybe it does the mouse! I'll have to try that, thanks for the idea.

Although, now I think of it, I use the laptop in my lap :-) in a big old chair with my foot on its footstool, there's no room for a mouse, no table. If I weren't so lazy, I could use the desktop upstairs. And this works okay, just has the "wrong" button working and I have to have the good one not work a couple times and then I switch, LOL.

I use a wireless mouse on my laptop and love it! I hate the little pad thingy.

My pad thingy is fine but the larger bottom pad buttons don't work so I have to use the upper/beneath the spacebar ones that go with the pencil eraser thing between the G, H, and B keys.

But I keep trying to click on the big flat ones at the bottom and get to pounding on them :-) and they still don't respond. I "cleaned" them as well as I could with my PC brush and they worked for a moment but then died again. They don't recess very far (unlike the actual buttons/keys on the keyboard) so I can't understand what their problem could be. I think it's just "old". There's some marring and scarring on other parts of the keyboard; it's not easy being Perna's computer keyboard My computer keyboard hates me
