I live just about on the county line and I've always been able to use my library card at the libraries in both counties. I prefer the bigger, newer one in the county I don't live in and it's actually closer to my home.

I got a letter in the mail saying they would no longer allow residents from other counties to withdraw books and if I wanted to use the library in their county, it will cost me $100 to buy a card.

I cannot tell you how many $$$$ worth of books I have donated to that library. I was kinda mad when I read that letter.

Oh boy, I'd be FURIOUS!!

((((((O_B)))))))))))) What about "appealing" that decision? Especially if you're a frequent customer and a person who donates and if you live on/near the "line" ... maybe they'd waive the fees for you?

grrrrr!

i agree with christina. since you've donated books to them, i think you have a good reason demanding for at least a reduction in this fee.

dang it, the corporation sucks. (ok, enough of those anarchist thoughts)

Is there any way you can get the library in the county you live in to get books you want from the other library for you?

Wow, that's a pretty steep fee to charge. It just doesn't seem right.....then again, to think of the costs associated with running a library, the cost of paper is skyrocketing so the cost of books I would imagine is also skyrocketing....and on and on it goes *sigh*

I'm sorry that they have made it so difficult (((((((( O_B )))))))

Not any more. They are stopping that as well.

The library content in my county is pitiful.

yeah like im sure libraries are expensive but charging 100 dollars they sure are chasing everyone away... and then they wont get any money
and if like less books get borrowed wouldn't subsidy get lowered too..
either way... weird!
Try appealing like christina said maybe they will make an exception for you or a discount

Ya, you know I think it is very unfair for you, well personally I think not just because you donated some books and stuff, (even htough its good)
but because library itself should not charge people, just to use the books,
i mean come on, Its like you cant go and get a good book to read for free,
you know how I am FOR FREE STUFF, I hate paying money for something that could be helful educational, NEXT THING THEY GONNA TELL US TO PAY TO GO TO HIGH SCHOOL? MIDDLE SCHOOL? Ofcourse you should pay for a broken book, or if you did something for the book, also if you lost the book, some books you cant even take home, but charge money , 100 freaking dollars for something that silly even disscusing, come on, get real, those people needs to get real. I WOULD NOT PAY JUST FOR GETTING A BOOK OUT.God, help us to get a better place in life. MONEY is money. We need money to eat, dress, drink, but we dont need money to have a life. To read books, to tell us who we are. I am not saying I would not want to be rich, but if I was I would open up a library where we dont charge just to take books. Dontations welcome!=))))
