I was driving over the bridge from Tampa to St. Petersburg and I noticed how smooth and calm the water was. It looked like glass. Then up comes a dorsal fin!

I shouted out COOOOOL! to no one but myself.

It looked like this.

I saw a dolphin today!

That's really great. I love Dolphins. I've got a great picture of a dolphin leaping in the wake of a ship I was on, that I got by hanging over the side of the boat shooting blind. It turned out great. You're luck to live where you get to see them.

How cool!! We went to New Smyrna Beach, FL over the summer, and we got to see some dolphins, too. I was more amazed than the kids were! LOL

Seeing dolphins is such a treat...they are incredible creatures with at least our brain capacity..they have family and social structure and show intense and complex planning abilites. They have language.

When I fish here down is SC,,they often follow the boat for hours as we push bait fish...their disposition is happy, joyous and free...

It is a tragedy that they, like whales, are so easily dismissed....

Wow that sounds really exciting I live in the wrong place to see dolphins unless I go to zoo. I am glad that you were able to experience such a beautiful animal in it's own habitat.

That is way cool! I love dolphins--correction--I love EVERYTHING! I just love all animals and mammals. Life doesn't get more wonderful than seeing a dolphin like you did. Wish I could have been with you!

Violet, I didn't take that pic. I "borrowed" it from someone on the net. But that's what it looked like!
