I took my day of leave from teaching and drove to Tamarack this morning in the early a.m. Beautiful drive thru the colorful mountain scenery. It was SO positive, and they want all the weavings and even the crocheted hats and shawls I took. I felt such an outpouring of positivity there, and it's such a lovely place. I'm glad I took the day off from work!
Thanks to all of you who gave me feedback.
Love,
Patty

Thanks, Sweetie Bebop!
It was so positive, and I'm not used to that. In my teaching job, I just stay off to myself mostly. I brought all the work home, because the buyers wanted the more colorful weavings, and the hats needed some refinements...just minor things like pulling some threads thru, etc. I plan to take them back next week.
I would really like to start making some extra income from my art in anticipation of eventually retiring from my job!
Thanks and love!
Patty

That's really great. I'm glad you had a good day and the fact that they want your work is fantastic.

Thanks, Echoes, Bebop, and Split!
They wanted to take my picture while I was there. Tamarack has these life-size pictures of craftsmen throughout the complex. I said NO!! The man asked me "Why?" and I honestly said, because I'm too fat! I can imagine a life-size pic of me in my fat state ...awful!
As I said before, I care nothing for recognition. Been there, done that, and it's a huge waste of energy. I also attended a seminar while I was there for small business, which all the other artists attended. Much of it didn't apply to me, as I will never have a store front or try to open my own gallery. They kept talking about "targeting your audience" and competition. It exhausted and even depressed me a little just listening to the speaker. But, I guess, some people are trying to make a total living from their creations. It's a very hard road to do that. I've seen craftsmen have heart attacks at the end of shows where they didn't sell well.
I used to try to get recognition...and I think it was part of my low self-esteem, wanting others' approval. Around 15 years ago, I started just doing what I enjoy, and, of all things, the work took off! I think this is part of maturing, but also coming into one's own as a whole person. I do still struggle with the personal issues, but my art work is a joy now.
Thanks to all of you,
Love
Patty
