I don't know if you've seen this advertised on T.V. but it looks nice and comfy and warm. It's called a snuggie. It's a big blanket with sleeves. I was hoping to get one for Christmas as I am always freezing cold and they are more than I can afford to buy one for myself. Since I didn't get one I googled it and found a pattern to make one and thought I'd share it with you just in case you wanted to make one too. It takes 3 yards of fleece.

Here is the link...

Yes, Jbug! Just today, I was thinking...I bet I could make one of these myself! LOL...I've been turning my robe backwards. I may go get the fleece and sew it this week before the holiday break is over, as I do a lot of snuggling on my sofa as well as reading in bed at night.

All you have to do is buy yourself a cheap blanket, from twin size to CA King, LOL, fold in half crosswise and sew up the sides leaving a place open for your arms, then cut a hole in the middle just big enough for your head. You can baste it by hand if you don't know how to use a maching or you can sew a fancy stitch on a machine.

Blankers will be a whole lot cheaper than buying the fabric to make one, believe me!

Good advice, September! I had thought so too, but hearing your description reinforces the idea that it would be easy, easy to make, and cheap!

You can also use any full sized (or larger) blanket into one with snaps or velcro. We had really thick ones as children and was unable to find them. Hard to describe how and where to put the connections, but this one wasn't worn backwards as the new one in the comercial is. The older ones were kind of like climbing into a sleeping bag with the zipper going down the front with openings for your feet (if you unsnapped it). The topish part of the blanket you fold down to make sleeves. So much clearer in my head lol.

I know what you are talking about...my mom has one of those. I used to take it to sleepovers as a sleeping bag. I love that one and wish they still made them or at least I knew where to get one.

I did get my fabric to make my snuggie and mom is supposed to make mine as I am sewing challenged.
