I went back to school this January to finish retraining as a forensic accountant.

Money is tight.

So in December, I applied to my psychiatric hospital's client learning fund. It's a fund to help patients get back into the workforce through post secondary training.

I didn't hear anything from them in the time specified in the application to notify applicants, so I just assumed I hadn't been awarded anything and got on with my life.

So I was really surprised yesterday when I got a letter that said I had been selected and awarded $1,000. Talk about a nice surprise.

This money will come in really useful. It'll pay for my certification exam prep course, the exam, and the difference in fees between an associate and full CFE.
